Hole found in iOS 4.1 allows jailbreak

By on

Within hours of the iOS 4.1 update being released, a hole has been located that could allow users to jailbreak their iOS devices, despite claims by the iPhone Dev-Team that the update would prevent future jailbreaking. The hole was announced on Twitter by iPhone Dev-Team member pod2g. It was confirmed by several others later on in the day. The exploit is found in the boot ROM of the device. The […]

Apple to open iPhone to more US carriers – but not the iPhone 4

By on

RUMOUR MILL: Looks like the iPhone may be expanding to more carriers than AT&T in the US with Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile USA possibly getting some iPhones to sell later this month. Well, that is if a tweet by Wired editor-in-chief Chris Anderson is proven correct, quoting a manager. However, don’t get your hopes up. It’s not the latest, and most problematic, iPhone 4; but will instead be the predecessor, the […]

Apple admits proximity sensor still not fixed

By on

Yes, we know that most of the Apple news that we have posted in the past month have been negative about Apple – mainly because the pro-Apple fanboy James is busy with study – but Apple has made a rare acknowledgement that the proximity sensor has not been fixed yet, despite an update coming soon. An upcoming update, version 4.1 of the iOS mobile operating system, appears not to have […]

TECHGEEK Podcast 8: Oh crap, my computer just crashed

By on

Blame Stewart for another late episode. Why? Because we had to wait for his precious iPhone to be reverted to an old version and jailbroken, which took 3 hours and 45 minutes after our original start time. Also, we’re still apparently recovering from our Election Night spectacular – if you can call it spectacular. Anyway, Tom leaves halfway in the episode because of typing disturbed some people and Stewart and […]

By on

Antennagate has been a huge problem in the United States, but now another controversy? A new defect has been reported by many users, and this time with the phone’s camera as many photos are being obscured by a mysterious bluish-green tinge on the image. The problem can be seen on the right.

iPhone 4 to land in China in September

By on

While the iPhone 4 success is no doubt huge – despite the several reported problems like Antennagate and the proximity sensor – China looks to be the next market for Apple’s iPhone 4 world domination with state-run telecommunications company China Unicom announcing it will sell the device next month, according to state-run media. China Unicom has not confirmed any deals with Apple, but the company has an exclusivity agreement with […]

TECHGEEK Podcast #6: We don’t need sex to create a scandal

By on

Turns out, to create a scandal, we don’t need to have a sexual relationship. However, we get a little bit sidetrack with the NBN to talk about that story. Yes, the NBN. We ranted about the NBN – that’s a first. We also talk about a new FaceTime video sex service and is Android getting a new gaming platform for Android? Anyway, we also introduce to the podcast the lead […]

TECHGEEK Podcast 5: Filter Us. We dare you!

By on

We are joined by Cupertino Loop‘s editor and (questionable) impressionist of Julia Gillard, James Wilson, for this week’s episode of the TECHGEEK Podcast – where we talk about the iOS 4 jailbreak, Apple no longer acting like a schoolgirl from high school, Liberals support for no filter and BlackBerry banned in UAE and Saudi Arabia. Sorry for the (if not apparent, disregard this) broken episode, mainly because James Wilson decided […]

Telstra says iPhone 4 coming back on Wednesday

By on

With the iPhone 4 frenzy last week, it was no surprise that all four carriers would have sold out their stock of the device – which will be a shame for many, especially those who didn’t pre-order the device. Well now, we have one carrier that has confirmed the date of when some more will be out in the store shelves – Telstra. Telstra has said, in a blog post […]

iPhone 4: Telstra, Optus sold out; Voda has a little left

By on

Wanting to get the iPhone 4? Well, tough luck. Popular demand for the phone has left Optus and Telstra with no stock of the popular phone, with Vodafone reporting that it has limited stock left. Vodafone’s update, however, was five hours ago (according to time of writing), and most likely to have sold out. It also appears that Three has also sold out, or orders aren’t starting until they have […]

Optus announces iPhone plans, Telstra goes on the attack

By on

Telstra is not the only carrier to have announce their plans for the iPhone 4. The number two mobile carrier, Optus, has announced their plans – with more capacity that makes Telstra looks a little bit stingy when it comes with how much data is included. While Optus’ plans start at the $19 Extreme Cap plan, it does have a high handset repayment ($60 for 12 months and $25 for […]

It is expected that pricing will be revealed for the device. “We will be releasing more information on Wednesday,” a […]

Optus to hold midnight launch of iPhone 4

By on

Whilst we are still patiently awaiting official pricing and/or the chance to pre-order our shiny new iPhone 4, we are at least more enthused to hear that Optus will this year spare its customers from the hours waiting in line and braving the cold as were the scenes for the iPhone 3G launch.

Thanks for coming onboard!
We're excited to have you.
