It’s no secret that when November hits, the major tech companies start rolling out their latest products. This is a pattern we’ve come to expect, and it makes sense. The tech giants want to drum up excitement before Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and of course, Christmas.
Amazon is no exception here. Amazon held a Fall hardware event at its Seattle headquarters on 25 September and unveiled the latest products in the Amazon Alexa ecosystem. Earlier this year Amazon revealed that 100 million Alexa devices have been sold, so it’s no surprise that Amazon is looking to expand the products in this range – They’re clearly popular with consumers.
We’ve got a whopping nine new Amazon Alexa products to share with you, so let’s take a look.
Want to wear Alexa on your face? Well, now you can. The Echo frames have a stylish and subtle look, essentially looking like normal glasses to unsuspecting onlookers. These frames have speakers, a microphone, a button to activate Alexa, and swipe controls for navigation.
Smart glasses have been on the market for some time now, but they’ve struggled to get widespread adoption due to how clunky they are in practice. It looks like Amazon has addressed many of these concerns. For example, the glasses will be able to play music to you in a way that reaches your ears clearly but doesn’t disturb those around you. The glasses are also designed to only push notifications you find important to your glasses, so you’re not being notified constantly.
Echo Dot Gets a Clock
Amazon’s Echo Dot is the single best selling smart speaker on the market, so of course, Amazon wanted to improve on the previous model. It’s been reported that the most common question users asked their Echo Dot was “Alexa, what’s the time?”, so Amazon has decided to add a clock to the Dot.
The basic version of Amazon’s Echo is getting new fabric covers that come with improvements to the sound and the overall aesthetic.
Echo Show 8
Echo Show 8 is the latest smart display from Amazon, this time sporting an 8 inch HD display.
Technology at your fingertips! The Echo Loop is a ring built around a titanium frame with a bunch of tiny tech inside.
The ring has two inbuilt microphones as well as a vibration system to alert you of incoming calls or notifications.
Despite some initial backlash from consumers, it looks like wired earphones are becoming a thing of the past as more and more devices remove the headphone jack. Echo Buds are Amazon’s latest answer to wireless earbuds. They support a completely hands-free Alexa experience as well as solid audio.
Amazon has described the Echo Studio as the “most innovative speaker we have ever built.” The speaker uses some impressive technology that is supposed to deliver the best sound possible for whatever shape room you are in. Echo Studio is Amazon’s shot at high-end audio complete with five directional speakers and support for Dolby Atmos and Sony’s 360 Reality Audio.
This tiny smart speaker can plug into any wall socket in your home so you can access Alexa anywhere. The Flex also comes with a built-in USB port so you can charge your phone while Echo Flex is using the socket.
Echo Glow is an Alexa controlled nightlight for kids! The Echo Glow doesn’t have all the capabilities of an Echo smart speaker, but it will allow its young users to tap between different colours, and even turn into a disco light and speaker if you say “Alexa, let’s have a party.”
