Chinese Police have said that they have arrested 28 people on its expanding crackdown on internet pornography and other content that has been deemed as “vulgar”; with authorities vowing that there would be no “flash in the pan” during the crackdown.
It has resulted in 46,000 pornographic and “vulgar” materials being removed, and 29 criminal cases; according to state-run news agency Xinhua. Xinhua is also reporting that it had blocked up to 726 sites since January 5, including that 244 websites that were blocked last week.
It says:
About one third of the closed websites had not registered with governmental departments and violated the top legislature’s regulations and other laws regarding public distribution of sexual images, said a statement issued by the Special Operation Office for Crackdown on Online Porn and Lewd Content.
