According to GigaOM, the person responsible for the shooting at SiPort was not laid off as part of the layoffs. Jing Hua Wu, who shot three executives at the Santa Clara based company, was terminated individually. In fact, SiPort had no plans to conduct layoffs from the company, nor will it conduct them in the future, according to their spokesperson.

“SiPort has never had a general layoff at the company and in fact, the company added to its staff in 2008. SiPort started shipping their HD Radio chips earlier this year and the customers seem to really like it. We were not laying people off,” the spokesperson told GigaOM.

Founder Aiman Kabakiko has taken over as the CEO, after the previous one, Sid Agrawal, was shot and killed by Wu.
