London will be the first city in the world to introduce and test out a brand new bomb-proof garbage cans. But not only will they be protecting and collecting garbage, they will keep passes-by up to date information via its LCD screens, streaming news and travel information.
The new bins were designed to absorb the heat and prevent any shrapnel from any explosives being put inside the bins.
Until now, bins were removed after an IRA bomb was detonated in the financial district of the city, killing one pan and injuring more than 40 people. Underground stations, Whitehall, embassies or other buildings that were deemed to be “politically sensitive” had also no bins, due to security concerns.
