EA reverses on Spore DRM mistake

Electronic Arts have said that it will now apply more “liberal” protections for its new “Spore” game, created by “The Sims” creator Will Wright, by increasing the number of times the game can be installed.

This comes after weeks of bad press, even though the game got rave reviews on its launch on September 7, for its DRM that were designed to keep the game from being illegally copied and limiting the times that the game can be installed to three – with additional computers will have to call EA, and give a reason for the request.

According to the Wall Street Journal, a free and pirated version of the game has been downloaded more than 500,000 times, with some just getting the version just to spite EA for the DRM.

Thanks for coming onboard!
We're excited to have you.
