Retailler to investigate porn pics on new phone

A customer was shocked after discovering that her new mobile phone had contained pornographic images.

The former display handset had contained 49 images, many of them pornographic. According to a report in today’s Cairns Post, it also features a staff member from the local Dick Smith store.

Dick Smith has said that it will be investigating the allegation, and has said that it has seen several images that were on the phone.

“We’ve been shown on a laptop a handful of pictures, some of which are pornographic, none of which clearly show any of our staff,” a spokesperson for the company said.

“There was one image of a staff member but that was in the store and as it was a display phone it’s pretty normal the phone would’ve been used to demonstrate its capabilities – it should’ve been wiped but that does happen sometimes.”

The woman is most likely to get her money back, and has said that children could have been easily exposed to the images.

“We have asked the customer to bring in the phone so we can look at the actual images on the phone. We obviously take any instance like this extremely seriously,” the spokesperson said.
