Sony has announced a video chat add-on for their expensive PS3. Called the ‘Playstation Eye,’ it combines both a microphone and a webcam that can be plugged in from a USB slot. It has a 120 frame rate per second with 320 x 240 pixel resolution, not exactly high definition; but it does come with gaming specific features like a two zoom features. The microphone is said to replace the need of handsets and is to come with speech recognition and noise canceling technologies.
It will be bundled with a software titled ‘EyeCreate,’ a video and image capture and editing program. No price has been set, but it is not expected to be part of the PS2 as it has a similar product titled ‘EyeToy.’
