Warner Music pulls videos off YouTube after talks break down

Warner Music Group, which is the third largest record label in the Big 4, has pulled all of its videos on its YouTube channel after talks of renewing a licensing agreement had broken down on Friday. Warner Music, along with Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment (formerly known as Sony BMG) and EMI, are all renegotiating their deals with the Google-owned video site.

YouTube goes HD with new layout… seriously

So, if you haven’t heard by now, YouTube has made some tweaks on the layout on many of its HD video content, including having the video on top of all of the comments and stuff, and by having a bigger video screen. But with the bigger screen comes a higher resolution, and really top-notch sound quality. This can be activated when you click the “Watch in HD” link.

Google reveals top searches of 2008 – “Obama” takes Google’s top fastest rising crown (in the US)

Following a similar move made by Yahoo, Google has announced that results of its “Fastest Rising” and top search queries from its Zeitgeist; with results from worldwide, the United States and 34 other countries, including New Zealand, United Kingdom and Australia (and if you’re scared about your privacy, don’t worry, Google says that no personal data was used).

YouTube goes widescreen

YouTube has officially gone made their design, and their video player, more friendly for widescreen monitors and videos, after announcing that its video player will now be in a 16:9 aspect ratio, ditching its previous 4:3 aspect ratio for it player.

Prince to sue YouTube

Prince, one of those singers from the 80s (or was it the 70s), has now decided to do what most rich and successful people/companies do best… sue YouTube.

“YouTube … are clearly able (to) filter porn and paedophile material but appear to choose not to filter out the unauthorised music and film content which is core to their business success,” he said in a statement released today.

YouTube unblocked in Thailand

According to BoingBoing, Thailand has no longer banned YouTube. Speculation is that Thailand unblocked it as YouTube was willing to block specific access to some clips. The videos in question contained material offensive to the King, Bhumibol Adulyadej.
