Video games and consoles sales in the US have fallen due to the slowing economy, few “blockbuster” releases and a tough comparison with a year-ago period that featured several hits, according to a report released by the NPD Group on Thursday.

Microsoft to buy executive-linked start-up
A videogame start-up partly owned by a Microsoft executive is set to be acquired by Microsoft. The company will purchase BigPark, a Vancouver-based company with veteran staff from Electronic Arts, and allow the company to offer its new untitled game as an exclusive for the Xbox 360 console.
New book details Sony R&D was being used to help Microsoft build Xbox 360
A new book has detailed the work of Toshiba, IBM and Sony on building the Cell processor that was going to be used on the PlayStation 3. Called The Race For A New Game Machine, it was written by David Shippy and Mickie Phipps – both who worked on the development on the processor.

I’m sorry, but I’m a bit lost over the fact that there is a clone of an Xbox 360 and a PS3 and trying to get my head around that these are not fakes. Anyway, the clones are from Rodisson Technologies Company, a shady, Chinese company. Each can only play 8-bit versions of games, and you could (and would) clearly tell that the Xbox 360 clone is a clone, since it has the “Happy 360” name on it.

It’s official, the Xbox 360 has sold out in Japan; and managed to outsell the PS3 – with the Microsoft console selling 28,116 at the start of August where Sony sold only 10,705 PS3s; with the Wii beating both of them with 41,000 being sold.

Netflix, a US movie rental service, is set to stream its movies and TV Shows on the Xbox 360 in the fall, meaning that many subscribers of the service will now be able to watch the 10,000 movies and TV shows in their collection.

According to GameSpot AU, in turn from a insider, about 2 weeks ago all EB Games stores across Australia were told to return all XBOX 360s in stock back to Microsoft. As well, checking the website they had their XBOX 360 product page saying it was sold out. This was also true when GameSpot asked the stores.
