Windows 7 lifts limit after beta delay

Microsoft has said that it will remove the 2.5 million beta users limit on the Windows 7 Beta, announced at CES this year, after a delay because of the huge response by millions of users that forced Microsoft to add additional servers to cope with the downloads.

If you are looking to find where that beta that Steve Ballmer promised at the keynote for Windows 7, the successor to Windows Vista; you might as well wait until CES is over because Microsoft is no longer offering the download link because of the demand.

Windows 7 on a MacBook Pro

First it was Vista, but now Windows 7? Geeklog has now posted up pictures of their installation of Microsoft’s new operating system on the latest MacBook Pro. However, they could not connect to the internet, even though they had the Boot Camp disk, and various features from Windows 7 were disabled.

New Features, New UI in Windows 7

Showcased in PDC 2008, Microsoft announced several things about the successor of Windows Vista – Windows 7. And while Microsoft has said that it will not change the architecture of 7 as it is based on Vista; it has made several user interface changes – including to the classic task bar and start menu. Among the changes, we will also see a new UI for Paint, and the Windows Sidebar will be ditched in favour of desktop gadgets, similar to that found in Yahoo Widgets.

Windows 7 is to be … Windows 7?

Microsoft has announced in a blog post that the successor of Windows Vista, which was known as Windows 7, will be known as Windows 7. Confusing? I know.

Windows 7 is expected to be given out at PDC and WinHEC as a “pre-beta developer release”, giving those attending the conferences a preview of what Windows 7 will be. According to several screenshots, much of the interface will remain from Vista’s Aero theme.
