Google brings out tablet UI concept

A rumoured Google competitor to the weirdly named device called the iPad from Apple might be on its way. According to Neowin, Google might partner up with HTC (again) to produce a Google tablet, which would complement its Chrome OS. However, the OS might be able to have different user interfaces on the different size of screen. According to the website, the UI would be stretched out the full screen and would feature tabs. The size would most likely be between 5-inch to 10-inch.

Verizon, NVIDIA show off the ICD Vega

Looks like tablets are really getting popular at the start of the decade – mainly because of the Apple rumours. Now, another company we have never heard of has decided to launch their own tablet. Called the Vega by ICD, it is a 15-inch touchscreen table that will have a T-Mobile UK SIM card inside so you can connect to their 3G network. It will also have Wi-Fi connectivity.

Dell brings out tablet concept

Featuring a 5-inch screen and will be Android powered, Dell has released images of its new tablet concept. And that’s about it, virtually no details have been released other the first two – and that’s usual from all Dell product teasers. Why use a 5-inch display? We don’t really have an answer for that yet. But apparently it will ship later this year – according to the Direct2Dell blog. Gallery is below.

Confirmed: HP to make Windows slate PC

BREAKING NEWS: It’s official. Microsoft has revealed that HP will be developing a new touch-enabled slate PC that will feature Windows 7 during its keynote today. Microsoft showed it off by using the Amazon Kindle’s Windows application. Microsoft and HP has confirmed that it will be launched later in the year, just no word on the pricing or the actual date. Could Microsoft and HP reveal a tablet before Apple?

CES 2010 BlockRUMOUR MILL: A big tablet announcement by Microsoft and HP? That is what the New York Times is reporting on the eve of Microsoft’s big Keynote that happens in CES 2010. Sources tell them that the tablet will be made by HP and could be out during the middle of 2010; and most likely would be a multimedia packed tablet with an e-reader and multitouch functions. However, is this Apple envy? Because Apple is said to be releasing a tablet sometime in the month as well. Will this spark a tablet war?

Lenovo IdeaPad U1 Hybrid makes a laptop into a detachable tablet

So, we are kind of confused over why you would have a detachable tablet, but it might be useful – and that is what Lenovo is hoping for. This is the IdeaPad U1 Hybrid, and will feature a Intel Core 2 Duo processor, with a Windows 7 OS running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon ARM CPU – so basically, a mobile tablet. It has an internal 16GB drive as well – though docked in laptop mode, you have a 128GB SSD to use – along with 4GB of DDR3 RAM and Intel integrated graphics.

Freescale announces a under $200 tablet computer – yes, you are reading that right

CES 2010 BlockFreescale Semiconductors has brought out new designs of what they call a “smartbook” tablet computer  – featuring a 7-inch touch screen and using an ARM Cortex processor – and will showcase the actual product at CES, running on Linux and Android. The tablet also features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, along with a 3G modem; a 3-megapixel camera; 512MB of DDR2 RAM and up to 64GB of internal storage with a micro SD card slot. There is also a removable QWERTY keyboard that allows you to type documents on the go.

Rumours: Apple 50 to 100 percent likely to release a tablet in 2010

RUMOUR MILL: Stop the presses! Is the Apple Tablet really coming!? Well, according to rumours, Apple is set to demo a working 7-inch and a 10-inch tablet running iPhone applications in January. Don’t get your hopes up just yet, however, as the tablet will not likely go on sale on that date, but sometime later to give more time to developers to build apps to work on both the iPhone/iPod touch and the new tablet.
