LG has today announced a brand new update to the Optimus G in Korea. Called the Optimus G Pro, the new smartphone features a 5.5-inch IPS display with a pixel density of 400ppi (well, that’s according to them), and runs on the brand new Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset.

Nokia’s cheap Windows Phone 8 smartphone, the Lumia 620, has yesterday received an Australian release date. The Finnish mobile maker will release the phone on February 22 with a price tag of $329; and will be available through its normal retail channels including Dick Smith, Harvey NOrman and JB Hi Fi.

Nokia has revealed at LeWeb the Lumia 620, the third Windows Phone 8 device in its Lumia line and is the cheapest. With a price tag of US$249 and will have lower specs than the flagship Lumia 920 and mid-range Lima 820, the phone targets those who are just looking for a cheap smartphone – students.

Optus has today announced that its two Windows Phone 8 devices – Windows Phone 8S by HTC and the Nokia Lumia 820 – are now available for pre-order.
The Windows Phone 8S will be available for $0 upfront from its $35 plan (200MB of data, unlimited text and $200 worth of calls) and up. The phone features a 4-inch super LCD display, 5-megapixel camera, a dual-core 1GHz processor, 4GB of memory (also expandable through an SD card slot) and Beats Audio support. It will be on Optus’ 3G network.

Motorola has brought out a white version of the RAZR M, designed with a pearlescent back cover; and it is only available through Telstra and its retail outlets (which includes JB Hi-Fi and Fone Zone) for only $0 upfront on its $60 plan, or purchased outright for $600.

We know Optus, Vodafone and Telstra are to carry the Samsung Galaxy Note II. However, at yesterday’s media launch, no pricing was announced by the carriers. Today, however, Optus is the first one out the gate. The telco pushed out a media release announcing their pricing.

HTC has today launched its second 4G smartphone in Australia, and the first on Optus’ network. The HTC One SV features a 4.3-inch display and a 1.2GHz dualcore Qualcomm Snapdragon processor; and will be with Optus and Virgin Mobile.

It has been revealed that Samsung’s S-Memo app stores a user’s Google Account’s password in plaintext. And while it isn’t issue for most users, those who have rooted their phones are at risk as it is accessible.

LG has confirmed what we basically now know exist – the Nexus 4. The new smartphone, that becomes Google’s next flagship device for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean (The Samsung-produced Galaxy Nexus was for Ice Cream Sandwich), will be sold next month in selected markets. And despite being scarred by the Optimus-line of smartphones, reading the hardware specifications, it does look pretty good.

Nokia Australia has confirmed when the Lumia 920 and 820 smartphones will coming to Australia. The first Windows Phone 8 smartphones from the Finnish phone maker will sold from the end of November, with the Lumia 820 sold through Optus and Vodafone, and the 920 sold through Telstra.
