In their effort to make a single ID for each Sony services, the company has today announced to users, via email, that the PlayStation Network will be renamed the Sony Entertainment Network. The change is purely cosmetic, with your account details remaining the same, and the new name will come to PS3 and PS Vita via firmware update, but not PSP.

E3 2011: The Next Generation Portable is now the PlayStation Vita
Sony has finally decided what to call it’s PSP successor, the NGP (or as many call it, the PSP2) and that name is PlayStation Vita. The name of the console comes from the Latin word “Vita” which means “Life”. Yes, we don’t get it either.
PlayStation Network is back online in Australia
It’s been almost 4 weeks since we’ve been able to connect to the PlayStation Network. In that time Will and Kate have gotten married, Osama Bin Laden was killed, Karl Stephanovic won a Logie (how, we don’t know) and Terence enjoyed Eurovision.
Sony PSN still down, may be down indefinitely
Sony’s PlayStation Network remains down for a fifth day, and there are now reports that Sony is keeping the network offline indefinitely until as it plans to rebuild the entire system to ensure the integrity of the network.
PlayStation Network still down for “maintenance” [updated 9:30am]

On Thursday we reported that the PlayStation Network had been down for the entire afternoon.
12 hours later, the PSN was still down and a post on the EU PlayStation.Blog revealed that it may be “a full day or two before we’re able to get the service completely back up and running.”
PlayStation Network is down in Australia, Worldwide
The PlayStation Network is currently down worldwide, with many users (including myself) unable to sign in or having a flaky connection.

RIP: PSP Go!
Sony’s digital-only PSP, the PSP Go!, has today “completed” it’s production and shipment in Japan. Sony will still offer repairs, support and firmware updates for the PSP Go, but the console will soon be unavailable to buy.

Upcoming Games for the new Playstation portable console + Android phones
At Sony’s Playstation conference, Sony has revealed new games coming for their new console, the codename ‘Next Generation Portable’ or NGP for short. The games revealed at the conference range from action to shooters genres.
Introducing the PSP 2 [update]
It’s finally happened. At a PlayStation conference in Tokyo, Sony announced a new portable system that will succeed the PlayStation Portable. The PSP2, codenamed by Sony as the “New Generation Portable” or the NGP, features some exciting new upgrades from the PSP.
PlayStation Suite announced
Gaming on the Android OS just became a whole lot more exciting, with Sony announcing the PlayStation Suite.
The new framework will bring the PlayStation Store to Android 2.3 devices, and will launch with a PSone emulator in-built. There is also a promise for Android-native games soon.
PSP2 Rumour: 3G, OLED screen [Update]
The new PSP, expected to be announced this week, has had some big rumours flying around.
Today’s is from Nihon Keizai Shimbun, a Japanese newspaper, which is saying that the new gaming system will have 3G connectivity, provided by NTT DoCoMo in Japan.
Bloomberg: PSP2 announcement next week, PlayStation Phone at MWC
Bloomberg has reported that sources close to the matter are saying that a PSP2 launch will be happening next week. Now, this is no surprise, seeing as details on the device have been floating around the tech world for, literally, years and Sony Computer Entertainment Japan is hosting an event next week in Tokyo. In my opinion, it’s very likely.
Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy gets demo and new characters
Square Enix announced at their conference that their upcoming game Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy will have a demo released on the Playstation Store on the PSP available today in Japan. Aside from the announce of the demo, Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy will include many beloved characters from the first thirteen Final Fantasy games.
