Nokia brings out more Comes With Music phones with X6 and X3

NOKIA WORLD: Nokia has announced that it will be bringing out two new phones that will join its music portfolio of phones, the X6 and the X3.
The X6 will feature a 3.2 inch touchscreen that has been optimised for 16:9 widescreen viewing with a massive 32 gigabytes of on-board memory, a 5 megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss optical lens and dual LED flash, TV-out support and access to its Ovi and Music stores. It will have Bluetooth, AGPS and WLAN, along with HSDPA and EDGE network support. It is said to have up to 8 hours of talk time under a GSM network (5 hours with 3G on), and can play music for up to 35 hours.
Nokia brings out first Linux smartphone – Nokia N900

Despite a few leaks, Nokia has announced it will be releasing its very first smartphone that will be Linux-based (using its Maemo 5 software), and not its Symbian operating system.
Coming out in October, the Nokia N900 is set to operate more like a computer and not a phone; with the Finnish company touting that the phone is, according to Executive Vice President, Anssi Vanjoki, “something that is fusing the power of the computer, the internet and the mobile phone.” It will also set back consumers €500, excluding any taxes and subsidiaries.

In an effort to increase revenue during these hard times (… and drink), Nokia has now announced that it will bring its “rich mobility heritage and knowledge” to the world that is foreign territory to them, the netbook market – with the Finnish company announcing its brand new product, the Nokia Booklet 3G.

Nokia, the number one maker of mobile phones in terms of market share, has reported in its first quarter of 2009 earnings today, and has said that it had a worse-than expected 90 percent drop in its net profit, as the phone maker faces a difficult year as the economic slowdown continues to hit hard.

Nokia, the number one mobile handset maker, has said that its operating profits fell 69 percent during Q4 of 2008, according to the Associated Press, and has painted a bleak picture for the mobile devices industry by saying that it expects it to fall.

CES 2009 : Nokia has announced that it will bring a version of the Nokia E63 that will work with the US 3G network to the North American market; selling at $279.00 unlocked, as no carrier in the United States have picked it up and subsidised it.
Nokia unveils N97 phone – now the new “flagship” phone

So, Nokia’s has a new flagship phone, and its a worth phone to take that title. The new Nokia N97 has a 3.5, 640×360 pixel (and yes, that is a 16:9 aspect ratio screen) ‘resistive’ touchscreen display with tactile feedback, similiar to the BlackBerry Storm, but this phone will have a sliding QWERTY keyboard as well.
Nokia to close plant, “reorganises” 600 employees
Nokia has announced that it would close its plant in Turku, Finland; and it will redeploy the 600 staff in the plant to its Salo plant or near its site near the capital in Helsinki. It will also announced a “sharpened focus” that would see 130 staff in its research and development department, plus another 35 staff in operations, at risk of being fired.

Nokia ‘iPhone killer’ misses Christmas season in developed markets, Australia
The Nokia 5800, its answer to the Apple iPhone, will not launch in Australia or most developed markets during the Christmas shopping season. Instead, it will launch in India, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Russia and Spain before the end of this year.
Nokia N96 begins shipping

Great News! The widely anticipated Nokia N96 (the phone that has 16GB of storage plus expandable memory, among other things) will be coming out in Europe for a estimated retail price of EUR 550, before taxes and subsidies.

The Nokia N96 is now coming to American users in Q4 2008. The phone, the successor to the Nokia N95, features the same keyboard layout, but will come with a 16GB built-in memory with an microSD card, GPS and Wi-Fi Support. Is this a competitor to the iPhone – I think so, even though it lacks a touch screen.
