Alienware launches 11-inch gaming laptop …

… because that is so possible. Well, now it is. This is the Alienware M11X. Alienware is known for their gaming laptops, and this is no different. According to them, it will demonstrate the power of a 15-inch laptop but it is not a 15-inch laptop. This is a 11-inch laptop and is a sub-US$1000 notebook. We don’t really know what is inside but all we know is that it has 6 1/2 hours of battery life; a NVIDIA GPU which is you can switch to it without restarting or logging out; have a DisplayPort, HDMI and VGA and it looks thin.

Sony brings out the VAIO Z series

Sony just wrapped up its press conference, and released a whole bunch of televisions, laptops and camera. This is one of them, the VAIO Z Series laptop. Just over three pounds in weight, it has a carbon-fibre aluminium chassis and has a 13.1-inch LED backlight display.

Logitech brings out Lapdesk with stereo speakers

CES 2010 BlockSince more and more people are opting to get laptops then desktops – many opting to use them for home entertainment (like watching Hulu or ABC iView) – many lack the sound system to play the audio because, frankly, their speakers are sound tinny and crap. Logitech, however, has created the Lapdesk N700 – the first accessory for your laptop that contain stereo speakers, along with a wide padded base so you can put it on your lap without burning your thighs – and it also has a fan to keep it cool.

ASUS goes pink and brown with new Eee PC model

ASUS has brought out a new Eee PC, and this time it has gotten a more designer feel to it, with the launch of the Karim Rashid Collection. While they come in Hot Pink and Coffee Brown (that one also has gold glitter and features soft-to-touch material); it still features a 10.1-inch display with an Intel Atom processor. It also has 1GB of RAM – that is upgradable, a 250GB (or 320GB) hard drive, a 1.3 megapixel camera and a MMC/SD card reader. The usual ports are also featured.

Lenovo joins smartbook craze with the Skylight

CES 2010 BlockSpeaking of smartbooks, Lenovo has announced that it will bring out the Lenovo Skylight. This will feature a 10-inch display, a 20GB flash drive and will be powered by an ARM Snapdragon processor, and will feature Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity – powered by AT&T. It also claims that it will have 10 hours of battery life – which they say it is “enough … to watch two movies or more back to back on the next plane flight” – and we call that a bit bulls**t.

Lenovo IdeaPad U1 Hybrid makes a laptop into a detachable tablet

So, we are kind of confused over why you would have a detachable tablet, but it might be useful – and that is what Lenovo is hoping for. This is the IdeaPad U1 Hybrid, and will feature a Intel Core 2 Duo processor, with a Windows 7 OS running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon ARM CPU – so basically, a mobile tablet. It has an internal 16GB drive as well – though docked in laptop mode, you have a 128GB SSD to use – along with 4GB of DDR3 RAM and Intel integrated graphics.

Lenovo goes AMD for new laptops

So you may have already heard the news, but Lenovo kick starts it CES press releases with three brand new laptops – the ThinkPad X100e, and the ThinkPad Edge (there are four other ones, but we’ll cover them in a separate blog post); all featuring AMD’s new VISION Pro platform, and will feature AMD dual core processors.

CES 2009 : HP Pavilion dv3

HP has announced, along with the Pavilion dv2 and the HP Firebird with Voodoo DNA, the Pavilion dv3. It features a 13.3” widescreen display, a backlit keyboard, a webcam,  and also a sleek, bronze look that simply looks marvelous. It does come with Windows Vista, but either in Ultimate, Home Premium or Business.

New ultrathin Dell laptop coming?

According to the New York Times, Dell might be bringing a rival to the ultrathin MacBook Air. Called the “Adamo”, it is registered to the computer-maker, with a “coming soon” on its website. “Rumor has it that Dell is coming out with a computer called Adamo that will rival the MacBook Air,” the NYT quotes from Uptownlife.net (which has taken down the content).

ASUS brings new laptop for the “corporate elite”

Joining its line of “business” notebooks, the ASUS B80A is claimed to be the “flagship system” for the entire line up, according to the press release. It features a 14.1 inch WXGA (or WXGA+) screen, a choice of either a T9400, T5850, P8600 or P7350 Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB of RAM and a choice between 160GB, 250GB and a 320GB SATA hard drive.
