It’s that time of year again. It’s the Consumer Electronics Show, and TECHGEEK.com.au will provide coverage of the massive tech event. And one of the big highlights of the year is the Microsoft keynote that is at the day before the event starts – and we will provide a live blog, keeping you on track what Redmond has to offer for 2011.
While it hasn’t been any secret that Microsoft is already at work in producing the successor to Windows 7 – the OS that happens to repair much of the damage of Windows Vista – but the stage of development of it has been so secretive, it can rival Apple.
Let’s end the day with a rumour that may cause some anguish in the Apple community.
Steve Ballmer is rumoured to be making a cameo at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) – Apple’s biggest event that it holds every year for developers? According to Trip Chowdhry, an analyst with Global Equities Research, who said that he will make an appearance on the opening keynote held on June 7. The topic? It’s most likely going to be about Visual Studio 2010, which will allow developers to write native applications for the iPad, iPhone and Mac OS X.
If you have ever drooled, bedazzled, imagined, fantasised or dreamed of the iPhone or iPad before it was released, you may of noticed that at Apple’s keynotes and on their website 9:41am or 9:42am keep appearing. Why is this so? Avid iPhone user and App Store Developer Jon Manning, Lead Developer of Secret Labs, put on his cap and began to follow the trail.
And we’re back with something new. Thanks to Stewart, we are getting back into the podcast game, though we are going to do this monthly. Yeah, I know, a monthly podcast. Basically that would mean that we would basically catch you up with an entire month’s worth of news in a 30 or so minute show, and thanks to Stewart’s wonderful (or infamous) editing skills, we did just that.
A keynote, a keynote. The very first keynote of CES kicks starts at 1:30PM today Melbourne Time, and like usual – TECHGEEK.com.au will do live coverage of the keynote. Will there be a HP/Microsoft tablet? Will we see more of Office 2010? Is there more Windows Live services coming out? All will be revealed when Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer takes the stage for his second CES keynote.

Apple has announced, to the surprise to many, that the company’s presence at Macworld Expo in January will be the last it will appear, and that Steve Jobs will not present his usual keynote address, with his replacement being Phil Schiller, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing, presenting the last ever keynote that Apple will present.
