Norway’s Consumer Council has given Apple until November to open up iTunes to allow its music to be playable in other MP3 players or it will face official sanctions, after giving then two years to meet the demand set by the council after Apple broke Norwegian law.

NBC comes back to iTunes
News in Brief: After leaving iTunes and launching their shows on Amazon Unbox and Hulu, NBC Universal have decided to come back. This means that NBC shows like Heroes and The Office will be avaliable at the iTunes store.
Rumour Mill : Is iTunes getting subscriptions?
MacRumors and other Apple blogs are reporting that a tipster has said that there will be a $129-a-year iTunes subscription that would go hand-in-hand with the MobileMe service.
The new service will offer unlimited access to half of the iTunes store for $129 a year, or $179 for a combo deal with subscriptions with iTunes and MobileMe – in the US only; and if you you have a MobileMe subscription, you just need to fork out $99.99 for the iTunes deal.

Apple has just released something that has made us very happy here at TECHGEEK – TV Shows on iTunes. This long awaited feature brings Australia in line with the US and the UK with television show downloads.
HBO selling shows on iTunes
Reuters is reporting that HBO, owned by Time Warner, is to start selling its shows on Apple’s iTunes store, with flexible pricing on some of its shows.
Episodes of HBO, a premium cable network, are likely to sell above the standard $1.99 per episode, making it the first time Apple has allowed different prices on episodes. NBC Universal pulled out after both parties failed to agree on a selling price.
iTunes cracks 3 billion
iTunes has finally cracked the 3 billion mark since it’s launch April 2003, though it’s 1 billion songs was reached in February 2006.
In the first quarter of this year, it was ranked the third-biggest overall music retailer in the US, behind No. 1 Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Best Buy, according to consumer surveys by The NPD Group. However, this was based on units sold, not revenue, and counted every 12 tracks purchased online, as it is an equivalent to an album.
