After months of speculation by us and by everyone; an industry insider has confirmed to CNET.com.au that Optus would be selling the iPhone, with sales and service commencing in the last week of June.

iPhone rumours fuelled by 3G version – again.
News.com.au is saying that Australia could be the first recipients of the new 3G iPhone coming out later this year. We missed out on the original because it uses the 2.5G network, which is slower than the 3G network. All carriers except Three carry both 3G and 2.5G. The 2.5G is known as EDGE in the US.
iPhone 1.1.2 jailbreak software released

The kind folks over at Conceited Software/Touchfree have now released the jail break program to let you actually do something with your iPhone. According to Engadget, you will need to have a downgraded to (or remained with) Version 1.1.1 to make this work. This then upgrades you with Jailbreak, installs Installer.app and SSH.app and then upgrade it to 1.1.2. Kind of neat… huh?
Can’t jailbreak your UK iPhone…

Gizmodo, via T3, have now said that your new iPhone in the UK comes with Version 1.1.2. Bad thing is that you can’t unlock, or ‘jailbreak’, your iPhone from O2, the carrier of the iPhone in the UK.
Apple place restrictions on iPhone
Apple is set to enforce restrictions to customers who want to get the iPhone, limiting them to 2 per customer and by card (most likely a SIM Card).
An Apple spokesman quoted by the AP news agency said that to “ensure that there are enough iPhones for people who are shopping for themselves or buying a gift.” Kind of lame, but this move is mostly linked to the iPhone being unlocked.
iPhone hack voids your warranty
According to Engadget, Apple has been chasing down those who have unlocked their iPhone. A recent report has said that a person tried to get their iPhone, filled with third-party apps and unlocked, repaired. Apple refused, saying that “the warranty was voided,” and also saying that it was blacklisted.
O2 wins iPhone contract
BREAKING: Spanish mobile operator, O2 has secured a deal to sell the iPhone in the UK. It agreed to give Apple 40% of the profits when it goes on sale.
The newspaper said on Monday that it has also agreed on the how it would go for. The 40% cut of profits is exceeding what industry experts believe.
DIY ringtones disabled?
The latest version of iTunes may have disabled some DIY ringtones for your iPhone, but it didn’t take long for another hack to get around.
According to MacRumors, a user named ShadowFox has said that you have to flip a metadata bit and change the file extension to .m4r. Also, we have heard (via Engadget) that iToner still works. We are currently looking for truth into this.

Yep, The iPhone is now going to France. Announced today, the iPhone will be available on the Orange network. As well, it will cost only 300 euros ($495 in Australian Dollars).

After being given a class action lawsuit, the iPhone’s problems just keep rolling with another lawsuit by SP Technologies over the touch screen.

2 days before the release, Apple and AT&T have announced the plans for the iPhone. There will be 3 plans; $59.99 for 450 minutes, $79.99 for 900 minutes and $99.99 for 1,350 minutes. These prices include unlimited data, visual voice mail, 200 SMS messages, roll over minutes and unlimited mobile-to-mobile calling.

iPhone given the green light
The FCC has given approval for the iPhone to be sold in the US by AT&T. This also caused Apple’s stock to have a resurgence on the stock market at late afternoon trading. The iPhone, which was announced at Macworld in January, will combine the iPod, phone capabilities and a mobile version of Mac OS X 10.
