Vodafone Hutchison Australia to offer iPad Plans

UPDATE (26 May 2010/Terence Huynh): Vodafone Hutchison Australia have unveiled their plans. Read More.

The mobile carrier Vodafone Hutchison Australia have announced that they will offer dedicated iPad plans when the 3G iPad comes out in Australia late May. The plans will be available with both brands 3 and Vodafone. The statement was released by Vodafone Hutchison right after Apple’s decision to delay the release of the iPad internationally. Vodafone Hutchison haven’t commented on the pricing structure or if they will be selling the iPad with the plans.

Stuck in the moment: Apple’s love for 9:42 and 9:41

Google prepares to make iPad rival?

Google is said to be preparing to make a rival to the Apple iPad, with a rumoured Android-powered tablet, according to the New York Times. According to the paper, Eric Schmidt confirmed the existence of the device to friends at a recent part in Los Angeles; along with some experimenting with a few publishers to find a way to deliver books and magazines – similar to what the iPad does (and the iPhone/iPod touch soon) with its iBooks app.

[Update] Is the iPad coming to Australia on April 24?

With the  iPad being officially released on April 3 in the United States, international availability of the iPad have been on the top of other Apple fanboys’ (and fangirls – can’t forget the fangirls) lists since it was announced to be released “late April”. However, will that be on April 24? In Canada, according to iPad in Canada, the Apple stores in that country have marked that day as a “black out period” – meaning that no employees are allowed to book that day off. So will this mean that Australia could get it sometime around April 24? Most likely, as Canada was listed amongst Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and France that will release it on the “late April” date.

Who’s not happy about Flash on the iPad? Adobe!

While reaction is mixed about the iPad – mainly on why do we actually need it and the name of the product – t has a lot of features. However, one of them is not Flash – and that has made Adobe a bit pissed off since they continuously advocating for Flash on iPhone, and it looks like it would be the same for the iPad. The lack of Adobe Flash would not allow users to access sites like Hulu or the BBC iPlayer as they depend on Flash as their video player and not QuickTime.

Apple announces iPad – pricing starts at $499

BREAKING STORY: Apple has announced the iPad, its much-rumoured Apple tablet device. It will feature a 1GHz processor dubbed the “A4″, and it is an in-house processor. The screen is not a 10-inch, but it is close to it – a LED-backlit 9.7-inch IPS display; and is only 0.5-inch in thickness and weighs only 1.5 pounds.

McGraw-Hill CEO confirms tablet?

Turns out, when you’re going to keep a product a secret, its best not to let your partner’s executives or CEOs ruin the surprise. In an interview with CNBC, the CEO of publishing company McGraw-Hill admitted that the company has made books that would be heading for the Apple tablet; while also revealing that it will have the iPhone OS – so now you can play Tap Tap Revolution on a 10-inch screen (that’s going to be one big orb that you have to press).

Apple confirms Jan 27 event

Little late on the bandwagon, but Apple has confirmed that there will be a press event on January 27 at 10:00AM Pacific. Location has also been confirmed to be at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theatre in San Francisco. France Telecom confirms Apple tablet? [Updated]

Turns out, the French aren’t that really good in keeping a secret after all. France Telecom executive Stéphane Richards has revealed that France Telecom, which runs the Orange network in the country and is one of the carriers in France to sell the iPhone, will sell the Apple tablet – confirming its existence, according to a video posted on NowhereElse.fr.

Apple tablet may come with multitouch iWork version

Apple is said to have spent a couple of years working on a multitouch version of their office suite for Mac OS X, iWork, that could be included on the much-rumoured tablet device, according to the New York Times, citing conversations with “several former Apple employees” who had a role in developing the tablet device. Like previously-rumoured, the Apple tablet will have a steep learning curve, with users having to learn new finger gestures – including those to control the multitouch version of iWork. It’s expected that much of the gestures would be using technology from FingerWorks, a company Apple purchased in 2007.
