Pirate Party headed to European Parliament

The Swedish Pirate Party (Piratpartiet), which is not affiliated with the Pirate Bay (according to WIkipedia) has managed to secure at least one seat in the European Parliament out of a possible 18 seats (or 20, once the Lisbon Treaty is ratified) – winning 7.1 percent of the vote, above the 4 percent needed to win a seat.

Sunde: “We lost” Pirate Bay trial

The men connected with the file sharing website The Pirate Bay have been found of being accessories to copyright infringement by a Swedish court on Friday, according to The Local website. The win gives the entertainment industry, which have been battling the owners for years, a step in stopping music and movie piracy on the web.

New undersea cable severed, disrupts web traffic

Telecommunication lines between Europe, the Middle East and Asia have been severed, resulting in lost connections via phone and the internet in the affected regions. This is the second time in this year when these cables have been cut, with the first happening earlier in the year, where two lines were only snapped – all in the Egyptian coast.

TeliaSonera joins the iPhone carriers list – secures deal for Nordic and Baltic countries

TelisSonera has announced that it will bring the iPhone to all the Nordic and Baltic countries, including Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

The iPhone was not available in those areas. TeliaSonera, however, does not have a contract to release it in Spain and the emerging markets of Eurasia (including Russia and Turkey) – where it offers its services.

Europe games rating face update

The Pan European Game Information, or PEGI, is set to get a ratings update after a survey was done in all of the EU member states.

The survey has revealed that some nations have not done anything to enforce the age limits, with a code of conduct is being suggested with retailers around Europe.
