Intel brings app store to netbooks

CES 2010 BlockIntel has decided to follow in Android, Apple, Blackberry and Nokia’s footsteps in opening up an app store. This endeavour, however, will not be mobile phones, nor for laptops, but for the netbook laptops. Called the Intel AppUp, it will allow users to find, download and purchase software that would run fine on the Atom processor. Applications selected will run on either Windows or Moblin-based operating systems, but will also offer applications that use Adobe Air and Microsoft Silverlight in the near future.

Live: Steve Ballmer Keynote

A keynote, a keynote. The very first keynote of CES kicks starts at 1:30PM today Melbourne Time, and like usual – TECHGEEK.com.au will do live coverage of the keynote. Panasonic brings out new camcorders

CES 2009 : Panasonic has unveiled its new camcorder line for 2009, with the addition of two new Hard Disk Drive (HDD) models, the SDR-H80 and the SDR-H90; and one SD card model, the SDR-S26. All of them will feature the new “Optical Image Stabilisation” and a powerful (and first) 70x optical zoom.

Dish brings out new Terabyte HD-DVR

CES 2009 : Dish has now brought out a new HD-DVR that will have capabilities from the Sling Player right out of the box, along with a brand new interface. This new product basically acts like a normal DVR, allowing you to schedule your recordings, etc.

CES 2009 : Windows Live Essentials gets released, new partnerships with Dell, Facebook & Verizon

CES 2009 KEYNOTE : Microsoft has announced three brand new things for the Windows Live platform, which Steve Ballmer said it was an “essential companion” to the PC.

First it announced that it will bring out the final version of the new Windows Live Essentials, which features Windows Live Messenger, Writer, Mail and Photo Gallery. This new version will be compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

CES 2009 : Samsung has brought out a new 3-inch WQVGA TFT-LCD touchscreen “multimedia player”, dubbed the Samsung P3; which features its “EmoTrue” touch interface with true haptic feedback. It also has the new sound enhancement technology called the DNS 3.0, and a 16:9 aspect ratio screen so it doesn’t letterbox.

HP has announced, along with the Pavilion dv2 and the HP Firebird with Voodoo DNA, the Pavilion dv3. It features a 13.3” widescreen display, a backlit keyboard, a webcam,  and also a sleek, bronze look that simply looks marvelous. It does come with Windows Vista, but either in Ultimate, Home Premium or Business.
