France to crack down on sites promoting anorexia

French politicians have called for stiff penalties, including three years in jail, for fines against “pro-anorexia” sites and publications that encourage girls and young women to stave themselves.

“Giving young girls advice about how to lie to their doctors, telling them what kinds of food are easiest to vomit, encouraging them to torture themselves whenever they take any kind of food is not part of liberty of expression,” Roselyne Bachelot, France’s Health Minister, said to the French parliament.

YouTube unblocked in Thailand

According to BoingBoing, Thailand has no longer banned YouTube. Speculation is that Thailand unblocked it as YouTube was willing to block specific access to some clips. The videos in question contained material offensive to the King, Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Suspension may boost demand

The decision to suspend Manhunt 2 over following bans from the UK, Ireland and Italy; analysts have predicted that it could cause a massive demand from video gamers.

As well; Wal-Mart, America’s largest retailer, and big named brands will not sell the game due to it’s AO rating, thus meaning that only people over the age of 18 can buy the game somewhere else.

Church of England labels Sony game ’sick’

The Church of England has accused Sony for using an English Cathedral as a backdrop to a violent video game and said it must be removed from shelves. They also say that Sony didn’t ask permission to use the Manchester Cathedral in the game and has demanded an apology. The game in question is the “Resistance : Fall of Man” for the PS3, where it shows a virtual shoot out with hundreds of people killed inside the cathedral
