Microsoft seems to be expanding outside Windows Mobile Phone, and who can blame them? A declining market share and huge rivals like RIM, Apple and Symbian taking over most of its share. Today, all the Android users will be delighted (or not) that Microsoft will be bringing its Tag application to the device.
The BBC has announced that it will be producing two new applications – one for its News division and another for its Sport website – for the iPhone, Android and BlackBerry platforms in a bid to rival other news organisations that offer similar applications.
Adobe will announce tomorrow at this year’s MAX conference, Adobe’s worldwide developers conference, that it has secured partnerships with Research in Motion (RIM), Windows Mobile, Palm and Google to roll out full Flash capabilities, similar to what you can see on your desktop, to various products and their respective platforms.
Research In Motion’s co-CEO and other executives have agreed to pay nearly $75 million to settle charges that tied to their role in stock-option backdating in the company. The deal, approved by a panel for the Ontario Securities Commission, calls for the company executives and the two co-CEOs, Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis, to pay 38.3 million Canadian dollars (or US$31 million) for the benefits received because of the improper option grants.
Research in Motion has announced the BlackBerry Storm, known as Codename Thunder, and will be made available in the US via Verizon and in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and India via Vodafone. The new 3G phone is a competitor to the iPhone, and will be the first BlackBerry to come with a touchscreen.
If you are have, or going to get a Blackberry Bold; you might want to reconsider if you have butterfingers. The phone is, apparently, very fragile as it does not like the concrete once you drop it from two metres.
It has been confirmed the Optus, Vodafone and Telstra will sell the Blackberry Bold, but only Optus and Telstra have confirmed plans.
The Optus plans will have the phone at the earliest on August 20 for $10 a month over a 24 month contract under its Blackberry $79 cap plan.
Blackberry fans can now rejoice after Telstra has lifted the curtain over its pricing and availability for the new, long-awaited Blackberry Bold smartphone.
It will offer it from late September, and will offer it for $0 upfront. It has not, however, revealed any specific plans or how much will it cost and the total data usage included.
