The Kindle Touch was announced back in September, and finally Australians can now get it through Amazon. However, is it a nice upgrade from the latest generation Amazon Kindle, and is the inclusion of the touchscreen a good or bad idea? Amazon has expanded the Kindle lineup with the new Kindle Touch for US$99 with advertising or for $139 without advertising. The new Touch adds multi-touch functions to its E-Ink display, in addition with new text-to-speech.
It is now official, Amazon is now in the tablet game. Dubbed the Kindle Fire, Amazon is pushing its entire multimedia offerings – Books, Magazines, Movies and TV Shows – onto this new device and hopes that it can become a serious rival to the Apple iPad.

The Kindle is set to be released outside the United States, according to “authoritative sources” talking to The Bookseller, that back up a previous rumour that the Kindle will be released in the UK sometime around October, with the announcement being planned sometime next week, ahead of the Frankfurt book fair.
Hearst Corporation, known for publishing magazines like Esquire and Cosmopolitan, and newspapers like the San Francisco Chronicle, is getting set to go into the e-reader business, after industry insiders claim that it is set to launch something that hopes to do the same thing that the Amazon Kindle has done for books.
Is this the new Amazon Kindle 2? According to MobileRead, they are – however, they haven’t been confirmed just yet. Also, the pricing has been leaked, and it will set you back US$359, and will be on sale from February 24. But you have to admit, even if this is not real, this looks like a better version of the Kindle.
