Powerline 500 Nano extends your network further

NETGEAR have announced their new Powerline 500 Nano range. This very small device allows you to convert any old power point into a “high speed” network connection. With speeds up to 500Mbps, the Powerline 500 Nano will happily play HD videos, SD videos and even 3D video. Of course, these devices can be used as a simple network port for use with a Computer, Blu-ray Player, SmartTV, Set top box, gaming console plus everything that has a Ethernet port. NETGEAR have mentioned that these devices have a low latency, which would be perfect for a gamer needing that fast connection.

Sony Walkman Z: an iPod touch competitor and a worthy Walkman?

The iPod touch may finally have a competitor in the multimedia space, with Sony today announcing the Walkman Z at their CES 2012 keynote.

The Sony Walkman Z has a 4.3 inch touch screen with a 800 x 480 resolution, but sadly runs Android 2.3, meaning it’s already out of date before it’s even made available. It’s expected to arrive in mid-2012, in the US, but an Australian date and price has yet to be revealed. Based on US prices, it’s a fair bit pricer at US$249 compared to the 8GB iPod touch which is US$199.  Meanwhile the 16GB ($279), and 32GB ($329) models are also pricer, and there is no 64GB option.

Nokia announces first 4G phone – Lumia 900

It may look like the Nokia Lumia 800 and the Nokia N9, but this is another Nokia phone. The Nokia Lumia 900 is the Finnish mobile maker’s first foray into making phones to use 4G. And it has signed an exclusive agreement with AT&T to put it under its LTE network.
