Apple scaled back its MacWorld appearances in 2009, and now Microsoft will do the same. The company has announced that it will no longer do a major keynote presentation – always the first – after next year’s CES.

Microsoft has just finished their first keynote at their developer event in California called BUILD. You will be able to download Windows 8 at 1PM AEST from this website. The keynote was dedicated to Windows 8 and here are some of the highlights out of the keynote in chronological order.

Sony has today also announced that the PlayStation-branded 24″ 3DTV, announced for the US at E3 2011, will be coming to Australia “later this year”.
One of the highlights feature-wise is SimulView. This allows two players to have full-screen multiplayer games, removing the need to split the screen. It’s quite interesting technology, although unfortunately Sony has patented it, meaning the idea probably won’t become common in any other brands of TV’s. PlayStation 3 games will need to be patched to support the feature, so hopefully updates come thick-and-fast.

Just in case the first four PSP SKU’s didn’t meet your needs, Sony has announced a new, budget PSP model that is exclusive to Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
The PSP E1000 is fully compatible with every PSP game and will be coming for a tasty $139.95. But the budget price comes with it’s disadvantages. The biggest change with this SKU is the lack of a Wi-Fi connection. This means that the PlayStation Network, PlayStation Store and Ad-Hoc gaming will be 100% gone in this model. We’re guessing you will still be able to use the Media Go! PC software to transfer games to the new PSP and it fully supports UMD’s. But it’s still a little disappointing that Sony removed Wi-Fi to decrease the price.

During Sony’s conference at the annual Gamecom conference in Germany, a PlayStation 3 price-drop has been announced.
From August 22 the 160GB PS3 will be available for $349.95 and the 320GB SKU will be available for a lovely $449.95. The price-cut isn’t as big as some may have hoped, but it is definately a welcome bonus for anyone thinking of buying or upgrading their PS3.

Apple has successfully been able to petition an Australian court to not allow the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet to be sold until the lawsuit against its maker is finally resolved over patent infringement allegations.

Crytek, the makers of Crysis, is teaming up with Microsoft to create a new game titled RYSE. The game is set, according to its trailer, in ancient Rome and during a civil war, and is one of a few games in this year’s batch from E3 to use the Kinect.
Nintendo’s 25-year celebrations of the Legend of Zelda’s franchise will not only be focused on the Nintendo 3DS. The Wii is getting into the field with the release of the new Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

Link and Zelda are back, and this time in one of the more anticipated releases for the Nintendo 3DS with its lacklustre games so far. The game, a remastered edition of the popular Nintendo 64 game of the same name, adds several improvements to the 25-year old franchise.

It’s 25 years since the original Kid Icarus game was out for the NES, and now for the much-long sequel, Kid Icarus Uprising, is coming out to the Nintendo 3DS. Designed by Kirby and Super Smash Bros. creator, Masahiro Sakurai, the game sees the return of Pit and the dark goddess Medusa.
Nintendo just announced the Wii successor, the Wii U. The biggest news from the Wii U is that the new console will have a large, resistive (we’re guessing by the stylus) touchscreen controller with two ‘circle pads’, a D-Pad, the classic Nintendo face buttons, a front facing camera, a gyro and accelerometer.
Sony has finally decided what to call it’s PSP successor, the NGP (or as many call it, the PSP2) and that name is PlayStation Vita. The name of the console comes from the Latin word “Vita” which means “Life”. Yes, we don’t get it either.
Already mentioned by Terence, it is confirmed that 343 Industries will be releasing not only a remastered version of Halo: Combat Evolved, the very first Halo game, but are also working on Halo 4, the continuation of Master Chief’s storyline. There are many other amazing games being shown in E3 but for now, lets talk about Halo.
