Sony Ericsson – soon to be renamed as Sony Mobile – have announced two brand new smartphones at this year’s CES. The Xperia S and the Xperia ion both feature high resolution displays among other hardware improvements.

Dell has also gotten onto the Ultrabook craze. It has announced the XPS 13, touting it as the “most compact 13.3-inch Ultrabook” because of its near-frameless display and has the same size as an 11-inch laptop.

Another headphone deal announced with Monster partnering with K-Pop recording label JYP Entertainment and its owner, J.Y. Park, to create the DIAMOND TEARS – EDGE headphones range. According to Monster, they were all “based on and inspired by J.Y. Park’s musical talent” (apparently).

Lifestyle brand Diesel are teaming up with Monster Cable to create a new “Diesel Noise Division”, and has used CES to reveal their first collaboration – the VEKTR on-ear headphones. Featuring a unique design, thy promise to continue offering high-level audio.


Designed to be a “celebration of real music”, Monster Cable and Earth, Wind & Fire, have joined forces to create the new line of headphones. First off from that partnership is its new Gratitude in-ear headphones.

The iPod touch may finally have a competitor in the multimedia space, with Sony today announcing the Walkman Z at their CES 2012 keynote.
The Sony Walkman Z has a 4.3 inch touch screen with a 800 x 480 resolution, but sadly runs Android 2.3, meaning it’s already out of date before it’s even made available. It’s expected to arrive in mid-2012, in the US, but an Australian date and price has yet to be revealed. Based on US prices, it’s a fair bit pricer at US$249 compared to the 8GB iPod touch which is US$199. Meanwhile the 16GB ($279), and 32GB ($329) models are also pricer, and there is no 64GB option.

It may look like the Nokia Lumia 800 and the Nokia N9, but this is another Nokia phone. The Nokia Lumia 900 is the Finnish mobile maker’s first foray into making phones to use 4G. And it has signed an exclusive agreement with AT&T to put it under its LTE network.

Amidst the lackluster keynote from Microsoft – it’s final one – was this little product announcement. The Kinect will soon be heading for Windows officially on February 1 in twelve countries – including the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. This will include software that would make it compatible with your computer without any sort of trickery.

Sony has also announced a brand new Bloggie Sport that has been designed for any environment – inside or out. Rugged, dustproof, shockproof and waterproof for up to 16 feet of water for an hour, the camera is able to record in full HD video quality.

Sony has revealed its latest update to the Bloggie lineup of cameras with the Bloggie Live. It can capture video in full HD resolution, have a stereo microphone, LED light and now Wi-Fi capability to stream video to Qik.

Today at CES 2012, NETGEAR announced the Universal Dual Band WiFi Range Extender. It allows you to extend your wireless network to a new area easily and quickly. The WN2500RP extends both 2.5GHz and 5GHz bands concurrently across your home and will simply attach to your existing router. The WN2500RP also has a built in 4 port switch, allowing you to plug in devices via Ethernet to use the wireless network.
