Can’t say that we didn’t say anything. The new iPod nano will have a 2-inch screen, and the same accelerometer that is used in the iPod touch and iPhone to switch between landscape and portrait modes. Steve Jobs also says that it will have the new Genius playlist feature, like shaking the nano to activate the shuffle feature.
It is also, according to Jobs, the thinnest iPod ever; and will come in 8GB (US$149) and 16GB (US$199). It will also come in nine colours; and the interface is brand new as well.

NBC Universal has partnered up with Google on a mult-year partnerhsip that will see Google selling advertising space on some of its cable properties.
The deal, set to come in effect in the coming months, will cover advertising for Sci Fi, Oxygen, MSNBC, CNBC, Sleuth and Chiller - with more channels may be added in the future.
This new deal is set to use the existing deal with the DISH Network partnership that Google has made, allowing Google to report on a second-by-second TV usage data to measure the viewership of their ads more precisely.
Both are also set to adapt a Google TV Ad service for local TV markets, and also collaborating on custom marketing and research projects using the product.

Here are some last minute leaks to the Lets Rock event from Apple. MacRumors, via Engadget, has said that the iPod nano lineup will move to a 8GB/16GB configuations in 9 colour variations - with purple, orange and yellow being the new choices.
As well, the iPod touch is unlikely to be changed, but they might be some price cuts in the way after Apple released the iPhone 3G for $199. It is also unknown if there will be a second-generation iPod touch.
But we will need to wait and see on Tuesday (or Wednesday for us in Australia).

Sony has announced today that it will launch a brand new program called "Designed for Walkman", and it will disclose the specs for its "WM-PORT", which is ‘an exclusive multi-terminal for connecting Walkman® with accessories’ - according to Sony.
This means approved applicants can proudly show off this logo on the left, but we aren’t expecting any to be released anytime soon, or anytime at all for the 4th place MP3 manufacturer with a 2% share.

Yes, finally - Seinfeld is now in High-Definition! Well, unfortunately, there is some bad news - it is not really high definition. While many stations believe that high-definition is widescreen, it is not. Basically, they managed to get the old footage that was still in film (as film has a higher resolution than HD) and then cropped it.
The technical term for this is called upconverting, which means it basically converts it to a higher resolution. So expect it the picture quality to be a bit weird.
You can view the original DVD one here, and then compare it to the one above.

MacRumors and other Apple blogs are reporting that a tipster has said that there will be a $129-a-year iTunes subscription that would go hand-in-hand with the MobileMe service.
The new service will offer unlimited access to half of the iTunes store for $129 a year, or $179 for a combo deal with subscriptions with iTunes and MobileMe - in the US only; and if you you have a MobileMe subscription, you just need to fork out $99.99 for the iTunes deal.
But is an unlimited access plan a good thing for iTunes? It works for eMusic, but maybe not for the iTunes store.

After two recent incidents in Japan where the first-generation iPod overheated and caused minor fires; the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has issued a warning to the music player. In total, there have been 14 incidents relating to the iPod Nano’s exploding battery, according to news sources in Japan, and the ministry has ordered Apple to investigate.
The investigation has determined that the batteries in the first-gen iPod sold between September 2005 and December 2006 were to blame, and has said that the company had received very few reports of such incidents - saying less than 0.001 percent of the units - all have been traced to a single battery supplier.
Apple is advising that you should contact AppleCare for a replacement battery - if the battery should overheat. This follows similar incidents in the US, but no recall notice has been made.
