Konami sues Harmonix, Viacom over Rock Band
Konami has decided to sue Viacom’s Harmonix studio claiming that their hit game, Rock Band, violates patents issued in 2002 and 2003 relating to simulated musical instruments, a music-game system and a “musical-rhythm matching game”.
Apple faces no charges in backdating probe
The US Justice Department has ended its two-year criminal probe of backdated stock options at Apple, and have not filed charges against current and former executives, including Steve Jobs, according to the Wall Street Journal.
iPhone causes problems on Optus network?
Optus has confirmed that its retail stores are experiencing problems signing up customers to the iPhone because there are difficulties with the internal customer network – since many are signing up across the nation to get the phone.

Analysts over at Citibank have said that Optus offers the most flexible and best value deals for the iPhone, which will go on sale tomorrow at midnight at Optus’ store in Sydney.
App store launching with 500 iPhone applications, only 25% are free…
Steve Jobs has told USA Today that the Apple App Store for the iPhone and iPod Touch will launch with "more than 500" applications on the night it becomes available (Tomorrow). Out of the 500 applications, 25% will be free – making that roughly 125 applications that will be free.
Optus reveals truth about its network hang-ups
After 16 years of competition on the telecommunications industry, Optus has said in a submission to the government on the regulation of the fibre-optic broadband network.
It has said that "16 years after deregulation, Telstra continues to dominate the fixed-line sector and the current regulatory framework has proved to be incapable of effectively regulating". Telstra currently resells the network to all telecommunication rivals, since it was partly owned by the government.
Fallout 3 given RC rating by OFLC
The Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification has given an RC rating to Fallout 3. RC typically means “refused classification” and means that the game is banned from sale unless a modified version is made.
Telstra restricts supply for iPhone
Telstra has said that it would only sell the iPhone in 15 stores nationwide on Friday Morning, including its T-Life branded stores in George Street, Sydney and Bourke Street, Melbourne. The two stores will open two hours early than usual, at 6am on opening day.
Regional high-speed broadband serves three companies in three years
The Herald Sun is reporting that the Victorian Government’s $21.5 million fibre-optic network, installed along the "Fast Rail" tracks to Geelong, Bendigo, Ballarat and Latrobe Valley, has only three companies after opening three years ago.
Vodafone announces iPhone plans – now, it’s up to you to decide.
Vodafone has released its iPhone pricing plan for both New Zealand and Australia, but has failed to better the offering from rival Australian carriers, Telstra and Optus.
According to the pricing plan, which has been removed, the carrier will offer eight plans, four for business and four for consumers. All plans, except the $169 plans will see you paying for the 8GB model, but you will need to pay for the 16GB model for any plan regardless.

Activision Blizzard merger gets stockholder approval
The Activision/Vivendi Games merger is now likely to get the go-ahead after Activision’s stockholders have agreed to the merger with Vivendi Games, the owners of Blizzard (the creators of World of Warcraft). The proposal saw more than 92 percent of the shareholders agree to the merger.
Final Fantasy maker launches very first iPod game
Square Enix, the developers of its blockbuster series "Final Fantasy" and "Kingdom Hearts" have launched a brand new game for the iPod, adding that to its long list of consoles it has developed games for.
