gPhone OS Codenamed Android, Is Full OS With SDK?

Cnet is reporting that as part of Monday’s big press conference, Google will unveil their iPhone killer gPhone OS, tentatively codenamed Android. Sources are calling the OS a “a complete mobile-phone software stack” that will be followed shortly after by a SDK (Translation: this isn’t just an ad system and will have more than a bunch of lame web apps). As we mentioned before, CNET affirms that the OS should be open-source and Linux based, but we shouldn’t expect to see it in stores soon. The number of companies involved (over 30) will make it difficult to move quickly on this. I’m just glad that this thing is moving out from the shadowy depths of rumorville. [Cnet via Gadget Lab]

PayPal Instant Bank Transfer GGGOOONNNEEE!

Been paying by PayPal lately? Having trouble sending your money instantly? Don’t have a credit card?
PayPal don’t give a rats if you have problems. Today I tried paying my hosting fees and paying off some domains, usually I pay via Instant Bank Transfer, but not today! Got my hosting account suspended and my domain flagged for deletion. I was so outraged, emailed both the company’s complaint departments and got my account unsuspended and my domains back but I was still outraged, so I rang PayPal. They said that the new system upgrade has reverted itself back to eCheque’s (WTF?? The computer done itself :O). They also told me that you need a credit card to use IBT (instant bank tr….. pfft…. you get the point). I yelled my point through and they said their technisions will fix it ASAP (BULLSH1T!!).

Leaked Vista Service Pack 1

The leak of the first service pack for WIndows Vista, imaginatively named SP1, means that we get to hear about the improvements before it gets a real release. APCMag reviewed a leaked copy of the software, and found that it’s pretty much your standard service pack fare: a bunch of bug fixes and noticeable performance tweaks. The only new feature is an option to create a recovery disk, along with a crapload of new install packages for Vista’s components, with no readily apparent changes. So, what’s Microsoft waiting for? Get it out the door already!

MySpace on your mobile!!

Thanks to OPTUS in australia, you can browse MySpace on your mobile for free until October 31st. The only down side to this is the GPRS charges. I signed up to the trial and decided to browse a bit. I found out that even though Optus is letting you use this for free, you still have to pay GPRS charges, I found that out when I got this message: “You do not have enough credit to access this resource”. So I suppose this is a great service, but only use it if you have a lot of credit. To sign up click here. You must be an Optus customer to use this service. Standard GPRS charges apply. Free trial ends 31st October 2007.
