Sony has released an HD trailer for upcoming game The Last Guardian.

The trailer finally gives us a glimpse at what the gameplay will be like. The story involves the two main characters, a giant dog-like beast and a young boy. Together the two venture out into the world and solve puzzles, by using the beast to get the boy to high places and use his strength to move large objects. The Last Guardian looks to be a charming game, and is set to be released in Autumn 2011.

The first Pokemon to be revealed is Zoroark. According to the scan, he is a dark type Pokemon and is classified as a ‘Monster Wolf Pokemon’. It is 1.6m tall and weighs 81.1kg. An English name has not been announced yet.

With the surprise of the first Pokemon, many had no idea that it’s pre-evolution would have such a dramatic change, similar to the reveal of Riolu as Lucario’s pre-evolution. The second Pokemon is named Zorua. It is classified as a ‘Evil Wolf Pokemon’. It is 0.7m tall and weighs 12.5kg. Zorua is also a dark type Pokemon and does not have an English name yet.

Zoroark is also going to be the key Pokemon in the 13th movie currently translated as: Phantom Champion Zoroark (codenamed Phantom Champion Z)

Sega has unveiled a new console, which seems to be pretty underwhelming in contrast to the other major consoles out now. Only time will tell whether the Zone Sega Wireless Gaming Console will be a contender in the “Console War” or just another knock-off like the Wii.

The Zone Sega Wireless Console boasts 50 games; 20 from the Mega Drive and Genesis era, 14 arcade games, and 16 sport games controlled via a Wii remote like controller. The Sega games though do not use motion control which leaves the question, will emulator get the best of it or will Sega and 3rd party developers make the Zone a worthwhile buy.

The console will sell at £50; roughly $90 here in Australia, and due out in the 3rd quarter of 2010.

Ever wanted to play a fighter game such as Tekken 2 with a Massage Vest? No? Of course you haven’t but now you can thanks to a student project first thought of in 2007.

The vest, dubbed the “Massage Me” has been shown at several electronic exhibitions and has been given a lot of praise. The device is very simple, the controls are scattered in patterns over the vest which you must massage to input that button. Although there is currently no support for any other games (old or new), it does give the peripheral a step ahead in advancement. Who knows, this could be the future of gaming?

The “Massage Me” even has it’s own Website with information, videos and a DIY of the controller.

‘Pixel Force: Left 4 Dead is a retro de-make of Valve’s hit zombie killing masterpiece. Lovingly recreated in a fashion that would have been acceptable in 1986 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, this de-make stands as the flagship title of the upcoming Pixel Force series from Eric Ruth Games. Go alone, or invite a friend for 2 player co-op against the zombie apocalypse in all 4 of the original game campaigns. 2 difficulties and all 4 of the survivors make a glorious 8-bit appearance, complete with first and second tier weapons scattered along your path to escape. So, grab your controller of choice and kick back with an award-winning retro take on the end of the world with Pixel Force: Left 4 Dead.’

The game will involve Sonic and Sega characters, past and present, racing in magnificent courses set in each character’s world. In total, Sega has said that there will be more than 20 playable characters, including hidden characters. Sega has also just released a new trailer, emphasizing the inclusion of Nintendo 64 character legends Banjo-Kazooie and the inclusion of Avatars as playable characters. In total, Sega has said that there will be more than 20 playable characters, including hidden characters. Due to bugs in Windows Live Writer, i cannot show the video but I can give you the link to it.

Some of you younger game players might not recognise Banjo-Kazooie but back in the days of the Nintendo 64 Banjo-Kazooie was one of the greatest platforming games ever made. Several other games have been introduced into the series including the sequel, Banjo-Tooie and recently Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts which was the first Banjo-Kazooie game to debut on the Xbox 360. In Sonic and Sega: All Stars Racing, Banjo and Kazooie will race in their custom built ‘Bolt Bucket’ racer against Sega characters. This will be the third game Banjo has raced in and the second for Kazooie.

Later on in the trailer, Sega also announce the inclusion of Avatars as players. These exclusive characters are only going to be available on the Xbox 360 version which comes out simultaneously with the other versions in March 2010.

It seems as if the Australian Classification Office of Film and Literature are just trying to fry everyone’s bacon. Just recently after CrimeCraft’s overall ban in Australia and Left 4 Dead 2’s modified version, Aliens vs. Predator has been banned from store shelves. Explaining why it was banned, the board said the gameplay included explicit decapitation, dismemberment as well as stabbing through the chest, throat, eyes and mouth. To stay true to the movies, the Predator explicitly rips off human spinal cords and uses the rest as a trophy.

Brutal Legend has just recently come out a week ago and before i review it, I’d like you to listen and learn about the culture of Metal.

Heavy Metal as we know it started in the summer of 69’, referencing to the song of the same name. The most legendary of guitarists was famous that decade, playing at Woodstock and being recognized worldwide. His name was Jimi Hendrix. Also this decade we saw the startings of Thin Lizzy and UFO, who are some earl Heavy Metal bands. Later on came the 80’s, which most Head-bangers would define as “the greatest music decade of all time”. Hundreds of bands that started in the 80’s would become synonymous with Metal fans. Bands such as Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Black Sabbath would become international cult bands that are still widely recognised as some of the greatest Metal bands ever.

___________________________________________________________________________________________

This is a list of several songs which you should listen to by them to fine tune your Heavy Metal, and as you can probably tell I am a die-hard:

Metallica:

Enter Sandman

Trapped Under Ice

One

The Unforgiven I

Nothing Else Matters

Iron Maiden:

Run to the Hills

Number of the Beast

Aces High

The Trooper

Fear of the Dark

Judas Priest:

Breaking the Law

The Hellion/Electric Eye

Black Sabbath:

Iron Man

Black Sabbath

Children of the grave

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Next we come to as many Metal enthusiasts would call, the MTV years or what I call the decade that killed mainstream Metal. MTV, although having started in 1982, had just started to play new and upcoming artists and were introducing the generations then to new genres of music such as Pop, RNB and Rap. This continued until all Mainstream Metal was never played again. Many Music Television shows around the world have copied MTV’s success and Metal as we know it has died. That does not mean though that there were still bands that were still playing, many 70’s and 80’s bands were still recording new albums and new bands were still coming in but the cultural shock that there music wouldn’t be able to be played and get towards the younger generation would reduce sales and make Metal seem like a dyeing genre. If only they realised the amount of popularity new Metal bands were getting, notably Tool and Slipknot.

Now we come to this decade, in which it will end in a couple of months. Metal has been completely wiped out from the mainstream. Indie Radio stations though have started playing some of the newer, alternative Metal and which has brought a new generation to Metal. Heavy Metal would never be the same since the 70’s and 80’s but newer and newer bands are coming in and are quite good.

This has been a Brutal History lesson and for homework I ask you to listen to the soundtrack and comment saying your five favourite songs on the list.

LASTING IMPRESSIONS:

Although it may seem so, this adventure is one that will last forever. The lush landscape is equalled with the excellent gameplay.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

Pokémon, although may seem like a child’s game which has hardly any replay value and is also considered very easy, the game has more to see than meets the eye. The Pokémon are a little childish, some are really quite frightening. The main aim of Pokémon is to catch and train Pokémon to beat 8 Gym Leaders and eventually the Elite 4, which are the four strongest trainers in the game. Aside from that there are also many other places to explore and things to do in the game.

There are currently over 400 Pokémon, which you can collect and train in game or send to others via Nintendo’s WiFi connection. There are also special, secret Event Pokémon distributed at Nintendo events all around the world.

The whole metagame of Pokemon is a nice one to know, from the basics to the advanced. From the early learning’s of Grass beats Water, Water beats Fire and Fire beats Grass to the effort and individual values of a Pokemon.

After the main game the enjoyment factor may go down due to not many side quests but being able to trade across the globe is a big plus, especially to game forums on the web where you could request a Pokemon and some person would send it over to you.

All in all, this is a wonderful game, for the young and old which you should buy without question when it comes out in Australia.

BioWare and LucasArts have announced their Beta Testing period for their Star Wars: The old Republic MMO and it’s quite interesting. Apparently BioWare and LucasArts staff are looking through the game’s community forum to find the most intellectual and active members for their Beta Testing. This will happen over several weeks so if you want a chance to Beta Test The Old Republic then sign up today for free.

"ROMs can only be obtained and played if you already own the game, have a license to the game or are part of a commercial marketing company. This seems fine until you notice that your gameplay is disrupted from built-in anti-piracy software, programmed by Nintendo to stop you from allegedly playing it illegally."

OPINION: ROMs. We all know about them, the computer files which contain a copy of data from a read only memory chip (most being Video Game data). They can be played through a piece of software called an Emulator, or run through a flashcard, but what do you really know about ROMs and the anti-piracy measures Nintendo has against them?

According to the American and Australian Law, ROMs can only be obtained and played if you already own the game, have a license to the game or are part of a commercial marketing company. This seems fine until you notice that your gameplay is disrupted from built-in anti-piracy software, programmed by Nintendo to stop you from allegedly playing it illegally.

Games that have recently made this point are the recently released Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story, and the Japanese Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver. The first game uses the software to freeze the ROM at the title screen, and if hackers get any further; all the bosses in the game. The second using the software to freeze at certain points in the game (i.e. buildings, town entries, battles), plus freezing every 7 or so minutes.

Sure this could be looked at as a good way to stop people who do not own the game to play it but what about the ones who do. Why should they be left in the dark while other game companies let their customer’s play them?

Marketing companies tend to use DS ROM’s in advertisements for the game, because it can be filmed well without seeing any persons body parts getting in the way of gameplay. They are supposed to help market the companies game and make them earn money, this is a major loss to Nintendo’s profit and shows that Nintendo are not competent game advertisements.

What’s next in store for Nintendo’s games? Will Nintendo become more strict towards anti-piracy or will they take out their software? Have your say by writing a comment.
