Hackagong, one of Australia’s largest hackathon events, is back for 2015 and is offering $5,000 cash plus business mentoring and more as the first prize. Hackagong is an annual, weekend-long hackathon competition held in Wollongong where teams of designers, developers, creators and business-minded people get together and build something from start to finish in 30 hours. First started in 2012, Hackagong is in it’s fourth year running. Attracting over 150 competitors and $100,000 worth of prizes and giveaways in 2014, this year is dubbed to be bigger and better than ever.

Thanks to Platinum Sponsor, WiseTech Global, the winner of Hackagong 2015 with the most viable business idea will receive $5,000 of cold hard cash. The team will also receive business mentoring, web hosting and co-working desks thanks to Liquid Co, Rackspace and iAccelerate. Category prize winners will receive prizes like Raspberry Pi’s, PayPal Here’s and Oculus Rift DK2’s. More prizes will be confirmed as the weekend get closer.

Hackagong offers the space, tools and mentorship that designers, developers and creators need to build and get their startup off the ground – all in just 30 hours. Hackagong is backed by a number of technology innovators in the country. These include WiseTech Global, IMC, Rackspace, Braintree, iAccelerate and the University of Wollongong.

Hackagong 2015 starts on the 19th of September at 9AM and runs until Sunday evening. Early Birth Tickets are still available for $30 from the website. All entrants receive Rackspace credit, access to 3D printers and food for the weekend. What could you make in 30 hours? Take a look at the HACKAGONGers Facebook Group for ideas and to find group members.
