Motorola had several big announcements today, announcing the release date of the Moto 360 and updating both the Moto G and the Moto X smartphones. The updated Moto G will still feature a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with less than 1GB of RAM, but will now feature a 5-inch display – though, it keeps the 720p resolution.

The Moto G’s camera also gets an upgrade. It has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Other changes include stereo sound at the front, and the ability to customise the phone with Motorola Shells. The phone still promises all-day battery life on its 2070mAh battery.

Other hardware specs include 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage with a microSD card slot (up to 32GB) and Bluetooth 4.0 LE support. The updated Moto G, however, does not have 4G support. Its predecessor did come with a separate 4G model, but that came several months after the original 3G-only release back in November last year.

Running on Android Kit Kat, the new Moto G will come to Australia later this month with a price tag of AU$269 for the 8GB variant.

Got the actual unit by The Good Guys for AUD 268. Unit comes with dual SIM support and SD card expansion up to 32Gb. Screen is bit washout. Antutu Bench test is 16446. Good selling point is decent 5 inches display. Recommended for normal usage. But not recommended for heavy user of Internet and people looking for good quality picture. Battery can last you a day.

Yeah the price of $179 is what made me consider the phone but since that doesn’t appear to apply here in Australia I guess I might have to search for another phone :(
