Just when you thought you’d get enough Batman; with Arkham Knight coming out later this year and the film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice coming in 2016, TT Games have announced a new Lego game which features our beloved dark knight.
Titled Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, the game takes place right after the second game in the series, and from the trailer we can see that the Watchtower and Justice League will be featured in the game, and what looks to be Brainiac as the villain.
As the game progresses and goes deeper into the universe, both characters from The Legion of Doom and Justice League will team up to take on Brainiac, who is using the Lantern Rings to shrink worlds. TT Games says that the title has over 150 characters from the DC Universe to unlock.
According to Game Informer, a demo of the game displayed that you no longer have to switch suits via suit signals, and instead, can select different suits with a radial wheel, similar to the spells in Lego Harry Potter. A demo level looked at the Justice League members attempting to retake the Watchtower, controlled by the Joker. The game will probably have the Watchtower as the main hub, similar to the S.H.I.E.L.D Hellicarrier.
Past Lego games have been enjoyable, including small mini-missions here and there to change up the gameplay. All of the levels are designed to be replayed after your first full playthrough, and you’re pretty much left with a ‘get all the collectables‘ type of game, if youre looking to 100% it. From collecting characters, minikits, vehicles and bricks, it gets tedious and unintersting real quick. TT Games are looking to include more of mini-missions, hopefully new ones to make the gameplay more interesting.
Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham releases this fall (Spring for us Aussies), for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, 3DS, Vita, and PC.
