Just announced by Warner Bros games at Gamescon 2013, Garfield Lynns, or Firefly – one of Batman’s early adversaries will make an appearance in the upcoming game Batman: Arkham Origins. Described as ‘unstable’ and ‘erratic’, this version of Firefly will be based on the Post-Crisis character, where his main tools are his iconic flamethrower, grenades, and flight suit.
Hinted earlier in the week, clues of Firefly’s announcement referenced his earliest crime of robbery – prior to arson and the resulting burns to 90% of his body (mentioned in Batman: Arkham Asylum).
Previously, Firefly’s gear made a cameo appearance in Batman: Arkham Asylum as one of the Riddler’s riddles and in Batman: Arkham City as one of the accomplices in Black Mask’s escape from Arkham City after being hired by the crime lord just prior to the construction of super-prison.
The “Nowhere to Run Trailer” also features our first glympses of the Batcave as well as the early relationships between Alfred & Jim Gordon with Batman. Combat gameplay also featured Copperhead, Deathstroke, Bane (with venom backpack) and Firefly himself.
Lynns is yet to make a notable appearance in any stand-alone mission or as apart of the main story of the other Arkham games in the series so it’ll be interesting to see how he is implemented into the Arkhamverse. He is the fifth assassin out of the total eight that WB Games Montreal has announced joining the ranks of Copperhead, Bane, Deadshot and Deathstroke. Other additional villains/anti-heroes announced in the game are the Joker and newcomer Anarky.
