The much-anticipated (for every BlackBerry fan) BlackBerry PlayBook is now heading to Australian shores, with the company announcing that the tablet will hit store shelves on Monday June 20, and the pricepoints for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions.
The carrier has also announced that the tablet will be available on all three major carriers – Optus, Telstra and Vodafone – and will be sold as well at Harvey Norman. The tablet will start at $579, however it is unknown at the other price points – though most likely will emulate the iPad pricing. The carriers will announce their subsidies at a later date.
For those not in the know, the PlayBook features a dual-core 1GHz dual-core processor and features a brand new OS that will allow users to use Android applications in addition to BlackBerry applications. It also features a 7-inch display with a 3-megapixel front facing camera and a 5-megapixel rear facing camera. Both cameras can record in 1080p.
