iPad 2, iPhone 5 launch delayed?

By on

Numerous sources are reporting that due to various reasons, one being last minute design changes, the expected release date for both the upcoming iPad and iPhone models has been pushed back.  Whilst less is known about the iPad’s regeneration cycles (a new model was predicted originally for June, which has now turned into April), iPhone fans around the world now expect that come Apple’s annual World Wide Developers Conference – one of the Mecca’s of geekdom – that a shiny and brand new iPhone will be announced, sending the pilgrims into frenzy.  So come June 5 – 9 of 2011, will the WWDC deliver once more or will we be left unfulfilled and impatiently awaiting the announcement of the iPhone 5?

One analyst, Craig Berger of FBR Capital Markets, hypothesises that a September launch is more realistic, with “various casing suppliers and touch suppliers still ramping up, some chip vendors not having yet received firm iPhone 5 orders, and other sockets like the image sensor still in flux.”  As with a lot of talk concerning Apple’s heavyweight items, these are of course at this stage just rumour, and only time (or Steve Jobs) will tell.
