LG has started to slowly unveil its 2011 smartphone lineup, with the first one that will make the geeks drool. Called the LG Optimus 2X, the phone features an 1GHz Tegra 2 dual-core processor. Yes, you heard that, a dual-core processor, and LG claims it is the first in the phone to feature such. Now, the smartphones wars are getting more interesting.

LG promises that the dual-core processor will make for smoother and faster web browsing and use the phone with “virtually no screen lag”. Well, we’ll see when I get my hands on it.

Also, it features a 4-inch WVGA screen with 8GB of internal memory that is expandable with a microSD card, an 8-megapixel camera with an 1.3-megapixel camera at the front, and HDMI output. The cameras can also record in 1080p, which is also impressive since you essentially have a full-fledged HD camcorder in your pocket.

It will run on Android 2.2, not Android 2.3, initially before being upgraded to 2.3 and will hit Korea next month. Europe and Asia are to follow, but no dates have been confirmed. The pricing of the phone has also not been revealed.

Lets hope that it will be way better than the LG Optimus.
