VLC for iPad available right now on the App Store

This isn’t some remote. This is the real deal!

VLC, the open-source, ultra compatible video player just got approved for the Apple App Store and is available right now for a free download to iPad’s running iOS 3.2.

And with this, Apple might finally be loosening their tight control on the walled garden that is the App Store.

The application description doesn’t hold back, boasting VLC’s ability to “play most multimedia files and various streaming protocols.”

Unfortunately, this is just for iPad, so for now you can’t get it for iPhone or iPod touch. But who knows, it may still come to those who want their devices to be pocket friendly.
