iPod touch gets promised revamp – includes Facetime, Retina Screen

It’s brand new. The fourth-generation iPod touch is here, and yes it looks like the iPhone – and it is pretty much the iPhone without the phone. With the new Retina display, two cameras for FaceTime, HD video recording via a 5 megapixel camera and the A4 chip, you can get this instead of the iPhone – again, if you don’t want the phone bit.

Oh, and it’s bloody thin. Very, very thin.

Of course, this includes the new iOS 4.1, allowing the device to use FaceTime, multitasking (something missed when users of the second-generation got their iOS 4 upgrade) and the brand new Games Center, which Apple has been pushing for since this year.

It comes out next week around the world at a price tag of AU$289 for the 8GB, AU$378 for the 32GB and AU$499 with the 64GB.
