Apple has announced the upgrade to its iTunes application, iTunes 9. The new upgrade will see an redesigned store and improved syncing, and will have new features, including Genius Mixes and its new way to give an immersive experience to music lovers in its new iTunes LP product.
“iTunes 9 is a great iTunes release, with innovative features that make using iTunes better than ever and iTunes content richer than ever,” CEO Steve Jobs said in today’s press event.
iTunes LP will add additional art, embed lyrics and liner notes in songs, photos, interviews, album credits and live performance videos; allowing users to gain a “rich, immersive experience”. It will be present on select albums for now, with Bob Dylan’s “Highway 61 Revisited”, Norah Jones’ “Come Away With Me” and The Greatful Dead’s “American Beauty”; and music lovers can get them on both Mac and PC.
It also adds Home Sharing, allowing users to easily transfer music, movies and TV Shows among up to five computers within your home network, allowing family members to view songs from their father, mother or siblings libraries, import it into their computer and add new purchases from other computers to their library; and a new feature for Genius called “Genius Mixes, generating up to 12 endless mixes of songs from your library.
