huluTM_130According to Silicon Alley Insider, NBC essentially gave away money to allow Hulu to advertise on the Super Bowl. What? How? Well, according to them, as part of a deal to agree to create Google with News Corporation (owners of FOX), it gave them $50 million worth of advertising that it can use whenever it wanted.

Along with the Hulu ads, its parent company, General Electric, will also air an advertisement, and NBC will also use the time to promote its own shows – taking 5 minutes worth the 30-second air time, which cost $3 million to get it on air.
