Internet security firm Intego has found a new Trojan horse in pirated copies of Apple’s latest version of its productivity suite, iWork ‘09, that could allow an attacker to have control over the infected computer. Distributed the BitTorrent trackers, the Trojan has been listed as “serious” by the firm.
The Trojan horse, OSX.Trojan.iServices.A, is part of the installation when you install iWorks ‘09, and is installed as a start-up item where it has read-write-execute permissions for your computer. After that, it then connects to a remote server over the Internet and will allow the attacker to perform various actions remotely.
At least 20,000 people have downloaded it with this installer, according to Intego, as of 6AM US Eastern Standard Time.
