Telstra has now said that it will sell the iPhone in Australia, being the third carrier in the nation to announce it will be carrying the prized machine; joining rivals Optus and Vodafone.

However, it will be two weeks late than its rivals, selling it on July 22, not July 11. it is expected that it will sell the latest iPhone. It will operate on the rare 850 Mhz frequency, the Next G frequency that Telstra uses.

Now we have to wait if 3 is going to sell the iPhone. If so, Australia will be the only country where all of its carriers will carry the iPhone.

Following Yahoo7’s move to add ‘y7mail.com’ as another domain, the US counterpart will now add ‘ymail.com’ and rocketmail.com domains to attract new users and hope to keep existing ones loyal to its Mail service.

The new domains are geared to let people to have yourname@ymail.com than yourname1922@yahoo.com, as many would have done as many taken your desired name before you.

rocketmail.com, however, comes back to Yahoo’s $92 million acquisition of Four11 in 1997. Four11 was the original owners of RocketMail.

Either way, I’m sticking to my reawaken Media e-mail account.

EzyDVD has salvaged ReelTime Media, a internet movie download start-up which failed, and plans to relaunch it as EzyDownload in September - after picking up the company, which cost $5 million, for a few thousand dollars in April.

The only thing that is missing is the contracts with movie studios, but CEO for EzyDVD said that the service will be ready in September.

Movies will downloaded and played in a proprietary player to protect copyright. Movies will sell around $5.95 per new release.

Mozilla’s Download Day ended at 11:18 PDT yesterday (or today, if you live in the US), and it has set a new Guinness World Record by getting 8.2 million+ downloads of its Firefox 3 browser - shattering all expectations and way above the number pledged.

According to the FAQs section, Mozilla is the only company that has attempted this record - and has set the bar for most downloads in one day. The Guinness World Records judges, however, still need to verify it - removing duplicates from the count records.

And, if you want to feel special - you can get a personalized certificate that you can download and print.

Reddit has made a big announcement today, as of Thursday (or Wednesday in America) the site’s code is open source, under the Common Public Attribution License (CPAL).

The social news site, acquired by Conde Nast in 2006, will allow users work on the site themselves, than petitioning for changes. It now counts 4.5 unique visitors monthly, and though smaller than Digg and Yahoo’s Buzz, it has grown 1,000 percent since Conde Nast bought the site and merged it with its Wired Digitial operations.

However, not all will be released under CPAL. The codes that will remain locked away are related to preventing cheating, ‘gaming’ the system and fighting spam. However, the algorithm that chooses which stories be on the front page will be made to the public.

CPAL is also the same license that Facebook used when it open sourced its platform.

This tips & tricks post (yay!!!) was a request by my friend. I already have made one post about it - but since it was created in 2007, and since we shifted our focus from “you should know this already” to “we will help you anyway we can, with news, etc.”, I’ve decided to rewrite it.

So, this is how you get all your songs off your iPod to your computer. This is for WINDOWS ONLY. The pictures come from Windows Vista, however Windows XP would be the same. You will need the latest version of iTunes, iTunes 7.

STEP ONE:

Open up iTunes and plug in your iPod. If you get that nagging screen that it says you should sync it - SAY NO!!! We don’t want to lose all the data. Now, go down to the options section and make sure that “Enable disk use” is checked.

The reason is that your iPod can be used as an external hard drive - which is obvious. Read More »

The Mozilla Foundation will offer the next version of Firefox 3 at 10am PDT today. But, with the release of the latest version comes a challenge - a world record attempt.

Mozilla is trying to set a record for the most downloads over a 24 hour period. There is no specific amount, but they would like to achieve five million on the first day - according to the BBC.

Comparing it with the last release, Firefox 2.0 registered 1.6 million on its first day.

You can download it from here.

TECHGEEK will review the full, final version of Firefox 3 soon …

Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile has said that they will be selling the iPhone for 1 euro, or $1.54 in the US. But, the total price is not 1 euro - you will get a 69 euro monthly contract with it; bringing the full total to 70 euros.

The 16GB version will sell for 19.95 euros, but will come with a data plan costing 89 euros per month, but will go up to 249.95 euros, but with a minimal 29 euros per month contract.

This comes after operators are now allowed to subsidize the cost for more lucrative contracts.

RUMOUR MILL: I still can’t believe there are more rumours about the iPhone. Gizmodo is reporting that some people have been emailing them that the people in the 3 stores or their customer care line that they are likely to get the iPhone after July 11.

There has no confirmation, but a "There’s no official update". So secretive - yet, so little time.

RUMOUR MILL: APC claims that they know the pricing of the iPhone in Australia, which is above this article. The screenshot comes from Domayne’s point of sale system.

But you might want to look away since the pricing is way expensive. These prices are also claimed to be "outright prices". The 8GB version would cost $699.99 (or US$656.24) and the 16GB version would cost $999.99 (or US$937.49). Compare that to the US pricing - but those prices are subsidised by AT&T.

However, don’t get your hopes up just yet. The model numbers (MB666P/A) done on a Google search takes you to a discussion thread on MacTalk Forums. As well, it could be a fake - since the numbers ‘666′ may be just a placeholder; or a joke indicating that the iPhone is the devilphone (OK, I stole it from them).

Remember - these could be fake! So just keep waiting (until July 11).
