The Church of England has accused Sony for using an English Cathedral as a backdrop to a violent video game and said it must be removed from shelves. They also say that Sony didn’t ask permission to use the Manchester Cathedral in the game and has demanded an apology. The game in question is the “Resistance : Fall of Man” for the PS3, where it shows a virtual shoot out with hundreds of people killed inside the cathedral

Vietnam has released one of its well known ‘cyber’ dissidents, two weeks before the President of Vietnam makes an historic visit to the US. Nguyen Vu Binh was released from the Nam Ha prison after been given ‘presidential amnesty.’ This comes after the President announced that three will be released, the other two haven’t been named.

Vietnam has been arresting several pro-democracy protesters in recent months, including a Catholic priest. Binh was arrested in 2002, where he wrote a piece criticizing the border agreements between China and Vietnam. That same year, he wrote to the US Congress, criticizing the human rights in Vietnam.

We have finished moving to our new servers. This time, we will stay here for an entire year! That means, no changing until we are done…

This theme I have selected after searching High and Low for a new design. This one, reminiscent to the old tech.geek, is a transition from the dark and cold black areas.

More on this new developing story will come as soon as we hear of it… Want to have your say about Optus, all comments will be not monitored (except for profanity, racist comments or spam).

Michael Jones, chief technology officer of Google’s geography software, on Tuesday counted Google Earth as fifth among the most populous nations, by a measure of how many people have installed the mapping application that lets people see their house from space.

More than 200 million people have downloaded Google Earth, according to Jones, who spoke here at the Fifth International Symposium on Digital Earth. That’s just under the population of Indonesia at roughly 233 million and the United States at just more than 301 million. Brazil’s population falls short of Google Earth users with 188 million residents.

Jones said that Google Earth, which launched two years ago, has also drawn more installations than Microsoft’s Windows XP.

Nintendo’s dominance continues, on both sides of the Pacific. The latest sales figures from Japan show that the PS3 sold just over 50,000 units during May while the Wii sold over 251K. The Nintendo DS also outsold the PSP 5-to-1 during May.

While the official numbers for the U.S. in May are not yet available, April did not treat the PlayStation 3 very well. The PS3 had its worst month, selling only 82,000 units compared to the Wii’s 360,000.

Now business publication Bloomberg is reporting on new data from Japan, indicating that PS3’s struggles are continuing. According to Famitsu publisher Enterbrain Inc., Nintendo sold 251,794 units of the Wii in May while Sony sold only a little over 50,000 units of the PS3. This is an even greater disparity than the 4-to-1 sales pace the Wii set over the PS3 in April.

Lots of reference designs coming out of Taipei this week at Computex. Adding to that list is CoolIT Systems’ factory-sealed, maintenance-free liquid-cooling system for AMD’s ATI Crossfire (no, not that Crossfire) configuration for the new high-performance Radeon HD 2900 XT graphic card.

The assembly uses “micro-channel technology in a closed loop liquid-cooling design” that reduces the ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT graphics card to a single PCIe slot size. And with newer motherboard designs showing up with four, x16 PCIe slots, you’d be able to run four cards without worrying about heat or fan noise.

The cooling unit itself slides into two, standard 5.25-inch drive bays, meaning anybody with a philips-head screwdriver and two open bays can install this thing. If you’re into building extremely powerful gaming PCs, you’ll want to consider CoolIT’s solutions.

Correcting a translation error that sparked a number of reports stating Microsoft planned to release its Zune portable music player in Europe, but not until 2008, the company now says it has no set timeframe. The confusion came in a response Steve Ballmer made to a German magazine.

In the proper translation, Ballmer said that “we decided not to enter new markets so far” and will not do so until “after we have reached some of the goals outlined. When this will be the case, I cannot tell you today.” Zune product manager Cesar Menendez further clarified the situation, stating, “We will not expand the device family or our geographical footprint until we are positive that we can provide the best experience from the start.”

The new Instant Answers feature extends to traffic information as well, for cities that feature it. Typing “traffic Seattle”, or “commute Chicago” will provide instant traffic information, although the info will be a snapshot and will not update in real time on the search page (although it will in a sidebar gadget, of course). The maps are fully interactive however, and pan, zoom, and even aerial imagery are supported.

Metro area traffic currently supported include Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, New York, Oklahoma City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland, Providence, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, St Louis, Tampa, and Washington DC.
