Manhunt 2 Banned

By Terence Huynh on June 22nd, 2007

The BBFC have decided to ban, for the first time in 10 years, Manhunt 2. Reasons for rejecting the game were its “unrelenting focus on stalking and brutal slaying.” Manhunt 2 is created by Rockstar Games, and will be out for the Wii and the PS2. The original game caused huge controversy in the UK, with it being blamed for the murder of Stefan Pakeerah.

Joining the UK are Ireland and Italy, with Ireland’s Film Censor Office saying it features gross levels of manipulation and torture.

Australia is expected to join the bandwagon, with the OFLC (Office of Flim and Literature Classification) still deciding the fate of the game. Australia has previously allowed the original game to be sold, before the Attorney-General’s office decided to intervene.
