The G9 Group; consisting of AAPT, Internode, Optus, iiNet, Macquarie Internet, PowerTel, Primus, Soul and TransACT, have proposed for a FTTP [Fiber-to-the-Node] network. The pricing scheme will be around $24, with high speeds willl be about $45. Tax payers would not need to worry, as it will be financed by them. An Announcement by the ACCC will be made in a couple of weeks.

Samsung’s 51nm NAND flash chips can be produced 60 percent more efficiently than those produced with 60nm process technology. Samsung achieved this new migration milestone just eight months after announcing production of its 60nm 8Gb NAND flash last August. The new 16Gb chip which has a multi-level cell (MLC) structure can facilitate capacity expansion by offering 16 gigabytes (GBs) of memory in a single memory card. Furthermore, by applying the new process technology, Samsung has accelerated the chip’s read and write speeds by approximately 80 percent over current MLC data processing speeds.

Slingbox has released 1.0 for their Slingbox for Mac software. Slingbox is a software/hardware combination, with the hardware connected to your Set Top Box or TV and streaming it on the web with full control over that service on the software. As well, the software contains the Apple TV support; which will be released for Windows in the near future.

Disney has unveiled it’s brand new social networking site called Disney XD. It’s aim is to provide a social networking site for under 14 year olds in a secure environment. Chatting in the site is controlled by the parent, who must give permission before using the chat feature. The site is meant for Broadband Users, as 90% of the visitors of Disney.com are broadband connected.

They use a virtual currency, which is earned by doing activities at the site. Objects, like ’stickers’ and virtual bubble makers’, can be bought with it.

Although he’s leaving, Ken Kutaragi is planning on a Playstation 4, 5 & 6. The PS4 details are kept at a secret, but we do know it will go an optical drive change. However, analysts have said that the PS3 will be the last of the Playstation line up; after disappointing sales, leaving it behind of the Xbox 360, Wii and it’s predecessor, the PS3.

Celebrating One Month [April]

Sony has apologized after promoting a decapitated and slaughtered goat in their launch party in Athens for the ‘God of War II’ for the PS2. Guests were also encouraged to reach inside the carcass to eat offal. Sicking images were published in the official PlayStation Magazine, but will be recalled.

This is not the first time that Sony had some controversy with it’s PlayStation line. A Dutch PSP campaign was pulled after it was deemed racist by critics. It showed a white woman aggressively grabbed a black woman’s face.

iGoogle, the new name of Google’s Personalized Page, will launch a new ‘Gadgets Maker’. This service contains seven templates, including two that can take from offline photos and YouTube. As well, you can have themes… Now, they are in the same group with Netvibes. [I still prefer Netvibes].
